But like you said, they just see SEC. I was like if you are good and highly recruited why not go play at the SEC powers if you really want to do something. I am sitting there thinking if you want to play in the SEC against the best to raise your NFL stock value but you scared to go compete for a spot on the best teams in the conference because you are wanting to stay close to home to play on perennial losing teams. JR, you and I will always agree to disagree on this one. You hate Ole Miss, for starters and you have every reason to (any Black person does lol). But some kids actually want to play in the SEC and want to represent their home state at the same time. OM and MS State gives them the option to do that. Will a kid be much better off at JSU than Ole Miss? Yes, if the kid rides the bench his whole career there. If he gets playing time, then he made a pretty good choice.

Also, OM and State, get tons of national TV time, so the exposure is still there. There is no evidence to prove their stock value falls because they have players get drafted in the first and second round all the time. I call them "welfare recipients" riding the coat tails of LSU, UF, Bama etc. on the Clarion Ledger boards, but in all honesty, they create a good situation for the student athletes there.

The coat-tail effect. Although to be honest, with all the TV packages out nowadays every FBS schools gets exposure. TV exposure used to be a sign of prestige, now its just part of the package. The one area HBCUs are missing out on. No reason why we shouldn't have a comprehensive regional package at least.

Man, of course I hate them mofos. But repping your state excuse to me is not valid. You can rep your state going to play at other SEC schools if you want to. Hell folks will really know where you from then. Eddie Lacy got all kinds of pub and folks knew he was from La even though he played at Bama. My thing is you should desire to win championships if you want to compete in the SEC that's fine. Go to Florida, Bama, LSU. They ain't never going win isht repping Ms State and Ole Miss is my point. So them playing there is moot. I thought the goal was to get exposure, WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS and go to the NFL. So if you are a SIP kid like the Callaway OL who was highly recruited and Nick Saban called and Hugh Freeze call. Where would you go? Or if Les Miles or even the coach at Auburn. Why would you pass on them schools (All have the same down South fans) so you might as well go to a winner that gets even more exposure than Ole Miss or State. Nationally they don't get the same type TV exposure like the Bama's, LSU's, Florida's, UGA's, Texas A&Ms etc.

I am with 99 on this one. I am not saying those kids will not get drafted. Because they will if they play well. Plenty have in the past and are in the NFL now. My point is those cats never won anything while they were there. Maybe a low level Bowl game.

I am sure their experience at those schools is good. But you can't tell me those kids really think they are going to go there and beat Bama or somebody on a regular basis or play in the SEC title game.

But JR with the excepiton of the Braylon Speaks type players most of these mid level guys will not get offers from Florida,Bama,Auburn. Those guys will get caught up in the mix of hometown kids with similar stats and skillsets. Ole Piss and State are viable options for these kids who know dayum well those other SEC schools aint coming but the two in state ones are offering. I for one have no beef with State but ole piss can burn down tommorrow...Aint none of that gone stop the NFL calling. MSU can go 2-10 but I still see players getting drafted left and right and Ole Piss too. So the kids gone roll the dice with them instead of hoping for a scholly from the other SEC schools...

This new coach has been pretty active in getting kids from outside of MS and that was indeed a first for them. Especially highly touted ones from out of state not named Eli Manning. LOL. Even ole Peyton didn't want to go there.

They will be good in streaks. Have a couple of years or so of being competitive then they fall off. As soon as Freeze has another year next year like he has recently. He will get offers from a bigger school.

We told people that last year when they said Ole Piss would be good. They won't win anything in football for a long time....

JSU has a few solid recruits in there, Frank Carter and Shawn Bishop are very good players. However, I expected a better class from Jackson State.

I wouldn't put Carter at the top of our recruiting board. Great student and solid kid but he's going to need time to develop. Bishop is really good but we signed 2 other DE/LB types who might be better than him.

Well if that's the case, why go anywhere except for about 10 schools in the country? There are only about 10 - 15 programs who actually have a legit shot at winning it all in any given year. Exposure doesn't mean jack if you are a 3-star guy lucky enough to get an offer from LSU. You will be "exposed" to the bench for five years after they redshirt you and bring in a 5-star guy the next spring. It happens all the time. Ask Blake Barnes (Baldwyn, MS QB who signed w/ UGA) and Chris Garrett (Tupelo, MS QB who signed w/ LSU

We signed 18 guys for need. There are plenty of guys left over from last year to compete. We had 25 scollies to give. One guy is on full academic scholarship so they saved some for a few dimonds in the rough....

Hey Tweed 24 give it a rest. the guys have been in town 3 weeks max. Now if he does not recruite heavy in the sipp next year you have a point. The recruiter was left over from Comegy so he already had guys lined up and they stayed committed. We still have scollies to offer local kids from JUCO's and such...Sheesh

I think everyone on defense is good enough to play immediately, and I would play them all. I think Anderson has a lingering injury. I'd redshirt him if it meant he'd have a shot at four healthy seasons of football.
