Yeah I am with you on that. But you are right. That's exactly what they say. I told a kid at the home front one time you would be much better off at JSU than Ole Miss. But like you said, they just see SEC. I was like if you are good and highly recruited why not go play at the SEC powers if you really want to do something. The kid could was like well I don't want to leave and go to far to play. I am sitting there thinking if you want to play in the SEC against the best to raise your NFL stock value but you scared to go compete for a spot on the best teams in the conference because you are wanting to stay close to home to play on perennial losing teams. I just don't understand.
JR, you and I will always agree to disagree on this one. You hate Ole Miss, for starters and you have every reason to (any Black person does lol). But some kids actually want to play in the SEC and want to represent their home state at the same time. OM and MS State gives them the option to do that. Will a kid be much better off at JSU than Ole Miss? Yes, if the kid rides the bench his whole career there. If he gets playing time, then he made a pretty good choice.
Also, OM and State, get tons of national TV time, so the exposure is still there. There is no evidence to prove their stock value falls because they have players get drafted in the first and second round all the time. I call them "welfare recipients" riding the coat tails of LSU, UF, Bama etc. on the Clarion Ledger boards, but in all honesty, they create a good situation for the student athletes there.
