If it was my kid, something would have done long before now if this was valid, but i am gonna make sure my kid eats, and it don't take grambling to do it. But from everything I heard, they didn't start raising hell til Doug got fired.

That's it right there. Plus use this as a teachable moment about intestinal fortitude.

So if they would've had a string of 3-4 away games in a row, should they wait 3-4 weeks until they come home to make their point in demanding better treatment and to get fed properly?

They already did, so you point is moot and wrong, they played 3 away games in a row earlier in the season, and this is the 3rd of 3 more away games, so they already did what you are questions twice, now coming up they have 2 home games in row starting next week including their own home coming. This was not something well thought out, AND IT IS NOT BOUT NOT EATING. Slow your roll, something is gonna shake out of the soon. BUT ALSO GET THIS, THIS IS NOT ABOUT MAKING A POINT. IT IS ABOUT WHEN AND HOW YOU DO IT. For too long, we as a people just lose our temper and do something instead of pausing, taking a deep breath and thinking. Instead of wreaking JSU homecoming, playing this week and then boycotting starting in the middle of thier homecoming would have been far more effective. At that time you have all of the influencal alumni on campus with no time for damage control.

True... I really think there are other forces that are pushing these kids to this. Someone is advising them.

It is doug....duh lol. It is obvious that after the school fired doug....things went down-hill. They want doug back, is pogue willing to let this happen. PROBABLY NOT

If the allegations in that article are true, I don't blame these kids. Am I happy our HC is messed up, no, but these kids deserve better.

This was not at all thought out. This is the perfect case of letting your emotions control your actions! These guys just opened up a pandora's box. Now the next question the media will be asking is how much money should your athletic program have in its coffers to determine if they are a feasible and well sustained program. Should HBCU's do away with their sports program and just focus on education? Should we all go D2?

The ramifications of these 18, 19, and 20 years old's decisions will be felt for the next 3-5 years--probably even longer. Gram has been put on notice in the media and by public opinion. Their business is straight on the street for unwanted interpretations.

This will not end nice, and this will undoubtedly affect all of HBCU's in general.

And there you have it people. The ring leader to all of this foolishness! This is all about Doug leaving and the players having a "connection" with Doug since he recruited them. This is going to set Gram back years!
Ding, ding, ding... We have a winner!

Grambling's football team boycotting has now made folks turn their attention to Gov . Bobby Jindal and his cuts to education within the state, which has affected Grambling.

As I said, this is bigger than football.

Dear HBCU High School Recruits,

See how these old 40, 50, and 60 year olds talking these kids like a dog? Take Heed: PWCs and HBCUs use you. The only difference is...you get treated in luxury at the PWC. Don't have to worry about not getting fed. Its the simple things that go a long way.

You HBCU Alums need to quit talking big and bold about these kids standing. There are basic things every NCAA Athlete is entitled to.

Gone Talk about it Ken!!

You preaching today Son!!!

IMHO, all of this occurred due to the combination of Jindal's budget cuts and no one being in-charge to make the necessary adjustments. You can't maintain at the same level when millions of dollars are being taken away. All of Louisiana's public universities had to make adjustments due to Jindal's cuts including LSU.

Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) schools "are often asked to do more with less," says school president Dr. Frank Pogue, and that is indisputable. But the weight room floor represents more than the financial constraints that have long hampered Grambling and other historically black colleges. It also symbolizes the political infighting and mismanagement that have plagued the school in recent years, problems which precipitated the football program's rapid decline, and which helped spark this week's unprecedented protest by the players.

As it should be.

Not under these circumstances and not under this context. The negative connotations associated with this situation will taint anything positive that comes from it, especially given the "racial climate" this country is going through right now. The South has slowly started to migrate back to their ways during the days of Reconstruction. You can start to sense the development of policies that are eerily reminiscent of the Jim Crow Era right now. And unfortunately, most of all the HBCU's are located in the South.

This will not end well for anyone. Not Gram, not JSU, not the SWAC, and not alumni from either of the institutions. :shame:

That sounds like what happened to the football programs as a whole after integration. The lack of foresight and the inability to adjust to a changing environment.

Funding for Education and Athletics are different, shouldn't it. Just because that extremist Jindal cut education funding should not stop people from attending games and Alumni supports to the athletics programs.

Problem is Jindal cut every public university in Louisiana including LSU and SU. I'm sure Jindal's administration will respond by saying, "SU managed to survive Jindal's cuts with the school going in the right direction by enrollment going up and the school be able to manage a balance budget".

Mike Wilbon said today on ESPN's PTI that it was stupid of Grambling to fire Doug Williams.

HEY GET READY!!!! I NEED NEXT WEEK'S LOTTERY NUMBERS ALSO!!!!
