Not under these circumstances and not under this context. The negative connotations associated with this situation will taint anything positive that comes from it, especially given the "racial climate" this country is going through right now. The South has slowly started to migrate back to their ways during the days of Reconstruction. You can start to sense the development of policies that are eerily reminiscent of the Jim Crow Era right now. And unfortunately, most of all the HBCU's are located in the South.

This will not end well for anyone. Not Gram, not JSU, not the SWAC, and not alumni from either of the institutions. :shame:

All this shows is how we all need to band together to help each other. People can say and right what they want, but at the end of the day it gonna be up to those associated with black colleges to do more by voting, donating and putting pressure on leadership. This is about providing the best available for these kids, here. Weight rooms, learning centers, dorms, libraries, etc. Shoot, some HBCU professors have to take furloughs so the school can save a few bucks.

When something like this happens we all have to re-evaluate and recalibrate.

That sounds like what happened to the football programs as a whole after integration. The lack of foresight and the inability to adjust to a changing environment.

It seems like the UL System should have required that all of its member schools make the necessary adjustments after the drastic cuts by the Jindal administration, which is why the little racist dude from McNeese knew not what he was talking about when he said SU wasn't taken care of business like all the other universities in Louisiana.

I totally agree with the kids on this. If they feel they have been mistreated and they have decided to stand up, so be it.

But its time for the SWAC office to step in where Grambling has failed. If Grambling does not play this game, they should be suspended for the rest of the season. Their football program should also suspended for next season. I would also suspend spring athletics for Grambling across the board. At MINIMUM, FOOTBALL IS SUSPENDED FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON. The football players should not be able to pick and choose who they want to play and what trips they dont want to make.

I do not know the insides of this but would not mind attention being put on the governor. Remember when the LSU president complained about the budget cuts. Remember than the voters in Louisiana re-elected Jindal at 66%.

As I said a few days ago, that's a function of leadership. Without having to be told, the leadership should have recognized the situation required it and taken appropriate measures years ago. However, the bumbling and stumbling this administration has demonstrated the past few months - particularly the past few days - shows they are more focused on petty personal differences rather than any real and serious leadership and crisis management.

Now if you guys actually believe that this is about underfunding and mistreatment of players, you have lost your mind. This is all about Grambling get humiliated by Alcorn and those players not wanting to be Homecoming bait for JSU. If they going to PB or TxSU this weekend, this wouldnt be a problem. They knew how they were treated when they went to Kansas City, why would they go to Indianapolis.

This is all about not wanting to get 80 hung on them by JSU. We joked about this earlier but thats the only logical reason.

This aint about food. Really? Dont fall for that. They dont want to play JSU.

Now lets see what the SWAC office does to punish Grambling. You cant let players say we dont want to play this team or that team. They should be suspended for 2 years....at Minimum for the rest of the year.

They complained about Ragsdale...the administration called their bluff and fired Rags
Now what??? Whats the problem now??? Uuuuuuuh, we dont get no food....we dont like long trips

"Well you dont have anymore long trips left. So whats your complaint now?"

Its all on Sharpe now. Lets see how he punished Grambling for this.

If Grambling is allowed to play in the BC, JSU should absolutely leave the conference.

True, but maybe TC is on to something. Maybe Grambling should be moved under the SU System where the board would probably be more concerned with the fiscal health of Grambling. I'm sure the UL System saw a lot of the stumbling and bumbling and decided to do nothing.

if you don't mind, could you explain the differences in the two systems? and why didn't grambling go with the the SU System?

I can agree with everything you said. In a perfect world, this would and should definitely happen. In reality, the rednecks will come out the wood works to condemn any and everything associated with us!

If SU finish out on top of the West and jSU on top of the East, maybe this year championship game should be played at the Bayou Classic, since it is being televised. But I'm sure Houston folks wouldn't like that.

This is exactly what I was saying earlier. This is all about Doug unfortunately.

if you don't mind, could you explain the differences in the two systems? and why didn't grambling go with the the SU System?

The big difference is the UL System oversees 8 predominately White universities (ULL, ULM, LaTech, NwSt, McNeese, Nicholls State, Southeastern, UNO) and 1 HBCU (Grambling) and the SU System is a HBCU system that oversees 5 campuses (SUBR, SUNO, SUSLA, SU Law, SU Ag) with three of the campuses (SUBR, SU Law, SU Ag) being at the same location (Baton Rouge). UNO just recently moved to the UL System from the LSU System. Also, the SU System is approximately 15,000 students and the UL System is approximately 92,000 students, which makes the UL System the largest university system in the State of Louisiana.

The only reason why I could think of why Grambling doesn't want to be in the SU System is that they don't want to be considered second tier to SUBR.
