YES THESE JOKERS ARE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE BARREL BUT THEY HAVE THE AUDACITY TO HE HE AND HAHA AT OTHER SCHOOLS.

Wow. The series match-up between PB and Valley are akin to Southern and JSU.

PB leads Valley, 22-21-1.

Pine Bluff vs. The Valley is a natural rivalry.

That's what my post was about. Without Googling it, I'm guessing it's only about 145-150 miles from Itta Bena to PB and with it just about 4 laned the entire way 2 hours is not impossible.

It's a given between the SWAC schools in Mississippi as far as rivals but not having anything resembling a rivalry between the schools considering our proximity is a head scratcher.

This thread was about UAPB rival. A rivalry is more than 1 year, a lot more. But I guess since yall don't have one yall don't understand.

This thread was about that until you said both of them are nothing schools. Southern is garbage and will be for the years to come, see how easy it is to say that? How does it feel to have 2 nothing schools beat you down in your own stadium? How does it feel to lose to a nothing school in football and also have that nothing school's team whip your football team's ass right afterwards? How does it feel to be the worse school in the worse conference in AMERICA? How does that feel? What does a series lead have to do with you all sucking? Thats the first thing you jags run to and try to save face. Hide behind your series records and wins, it aint helping yall

I would say UAPB #1 Rivalry is Southern with Grambling being a close 2nd. If you had to do a power rivalry ranking among all schools in the SWAC, Southern would be #1 with Jackson State a distance 2nd followed closely by Grambling State. #4 would have to be Alcorn State and Bama State #5. The other teams really don't matter that much in this particular discussion.....

PB-GSU was close to being a good classic game around the time of the LA State Fair. But after a PB female student was accidentally killed, the game begin to go down.....starting with the game time changing from 7 to 2. I remember back in '99, there were cars on the interstate still trying to get to the stadium and it was almost halftime. Afterwards, many GSU fans wanted the game to be home and home.

IMO, PB fans get hyped up for 3-4 games: 1 - Homecoming(don't matter who they are playing), 2 - SU/GSU, 3 - JSU

I agree.

I am really impressed with UAPB's program though. Coleman is building a monster.

Interesting responses.

I had lunch here at the VA with a couple of GSU oldheads and of course we were talking about the upcoming football season. Ironically, both asked me this very same question: who do I consider to be the Golden Lions' rival? My mind went into a whirl!

Truth be told, all 9 schools are our rival. Since we rejoined the SWAC in '97, we've struggled with each school (some more than others, some a little less). Regardless of records and stats, we don't ever take any opponent lightly! But like I told the GSU oldheads, I'd have to split our rivalry divisionally:

Eastern Division-
Alabama A&M

1) We've had 3 games against them that the Bulldogs didn't allow us to score a single point (2000= 26-0, 2001= 35-0, and 2003= 50-0)

2) Since '97, AAMU has had the lead in victories in the between our matchups (AAMU 10 wins vs UAPB 4 wins)

3) 1999-UAPB sees the first of very, very few wins against the Bulldogs (UAPB 23-AAMU 17)

4) 2004-5 years later, the Golden Lions have another victory over the Bulldogs under the leadership of Coach Forte; (UAPB 24-AAMU 10)

5) 2006-controversial game in PB (I think) and the rivalry comes to fruition; the Golden Lions get a slim win over the Bulldogs (UAPB 23-AAMU 21) and that doesn't sit too well with Coach Jones. After some suggestive remarks about the Golden Lions, Jones gets his revenge later in December that same year.

6) 2006- SCG.....the Bulldogs are victorious and crowned the conference champs in Birmingham (UAPB 13-AAMU 22). At the end of the game, the Bulldogs rush to the UAPB endzone and have a victory celebration

7) 2011-UAPB offense comes out full force in Normal, AL and manages to put 27 points on the board by halftime, leading 27-7; but the Bulldogs take advantage of the lax efforts of the Golden Lion defense and come back with the win (UAPB 27-AAMU 28)

8) 2012-the Bulldogs take advantage again, this time against the Golden Lion offense, who allow AAMU the win. The Golden Lions gamble on 2 failed 4th down conversions and a delay of game on the 4th&3rd, giving away an easy and guaranteed 9 points in FGs (UAPB 10-AAMU 14)

Western Division-
Southern

1) 1997-the Golden Lions are back in the SWAC, with a point to prove, especially to Division (and conference leaders) SU. September 13, 1997, Little Rock, AR, War Memorial Stadium....unyielding, the Golden Lions go into not single, not double, but triple OT with the Jags. After a heartbreaking 3-point loss, the Golden Lions have to settle for #2 spot in the Western Division (8-3 overall) and watch as the Jags go on to the Big Dance in Birmingham....final score (UAPB 33-SU 36 OT(3))

2) 1998- another intense game and another OT (I think a double); the Golden Lions again come up 3 short against the Jags (UAPB 14-SU 17).

3) 2000- September 9th, after double and triple OTs and close calls, the Golden Lions say "enough" and go for the Jags' jugular (UAPB 30-SU 19); the Jags aren't happy and the "rivalry" begins

4) 2003-I don't want to talk about it! (UAPB 7-SU 53 at Mumford)

5) 2006- I know a few SU alum say this year doesn't count, but a win is a win for us, regardless of the season the rest of the conference is having (UAPB 45-SU 20 at Mumford)

6) 2007-it's now intense between the 2 schools and both are going for the kill; UAPB scrapes by and gets the win (UAPB 23-SU 21)

7) 2008-another intense game and another OT; very, very controversial call gives SU the victory at Mumford (I still question that call)...final score UAPB 24-SU 31 (OT)

8) 2010-back in Baton Rouge, the kid from New Iberia, LA keeps finding the kid from the STL and the Golden Lions get the victory (UAPB 41-SU 23)

9) 2011-I don't want to talk about it! Ironically, the Golden Lions needed the Jags to win against GSU in the BC, but it was clear the Jags still had October 20th fresh on their minds.....final score at Golden Lion Stadium: UAPB 22-SU 21.

.....my opinion only (and off the top of my head)......

* that triple OT was a record game; it was the first and only triple OT in the existence of the SWAC. That OT in Birmingham last year was the first time a SCG had gone into OT. UAPB played in both those games.....

I wasn't trying to be funny when I said jsu is everyones's rival...we don't have one, everyone is treated the same no favoritism. Jsu is one of su's rivals. and alcorn, and valley, and I guess pb now since the ahem *upset* lol. The jsu-pb game shall be interesting!

LOL, you are right, when we lost to 1 of yall, we fired the coach. If we lose to both of yall again at home in the same year, it is a good chance that coach gonna get fired too. We were not the worse team in the conference last year, we have Grambling to thank for that. But even the lowest dog has it's day. So enjoy yours.

BTW, your statement " Hide behind your series records and wins" is classic.

I've had good times in Vicksburg. Good times. :) :pimp:

So have we. In fact we're staying at the River Walk Casino on 7 Sep for the JSU game. When we travel to Grambling or Lorman for games, we always stay in Vicksburg.
