The NCAA has governance over EVERYTHING members do. We would not have a championship game without them allowing it. We can't play a 12 game regular season without them allowing it. We can't play before Labor Day weekend without them allowing it. Some schools have spring practice bans and have to play less regular season games because of NCAA penalties.

THEY have the ultimate decision on who is eligible.

you are 1000% correct but that STILL does not change the fact that APR does not affect conference tournaments including the SCG. The NCAA told us that.. :lol:

But as far as this topic goes... because I see no sense in going down that other road....

I think AlaState baseball and football might get a waiver based on single year scores. Not so sure about bball and volleyball tho.

They would have had to transfer from MVSU in good academic standing with a 2.5 GPA or higher to Moorhead in order for them not to have hurt Valley's APR.

..AND Valley would have had to have properly reported this. If you don't have a good compliance staff, you will be in trouble. A lot of what happened with JSU was not with kids failing at all. It was with the reporting and the inept compliance office. They were all fired. Then the new staff had to come back in and re-do a lot of stuff.

I doubt if Morehead would have taken them if they had poor academics. Is that where Sean Woods went?

Eighteen Division I teams will miss the postseason, and another 18 in men's basketball and nine other college sports will trade practice time for remedial classroom sessions under NCAA academic progress reports released Tuesday.

Poor Academic Progress Rate scores mean postseason bans in the 2013-14 academic year for teams from 10 schools: Alabama State, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Florida A&M, Florida International, Grambling State, Mississippi Valley State, New Orleans, Norfolk State, Savannah State and Southern. That compares to 15 teams ineligible for the 2012-13 postseason.

Five teams received Level 3 APR penalties, which can include financial aid reductions and multi-year postseason bans: the men's basketball teams at Chicago State, Grambling, Mississippi Valley and Louisiana-Monroe and Chicago State's women's volleyball team.

Most of the penalized schools have significantly more limited resources than top NCAA programs, including 11 historically black schools.

That's stupid TP. You don't do any kind of BS like that. The NCAA would look at us like we some rogue conference and may even take our tourney auto bid.

I bet most is retention- cant keep them there at most HBCUs- a lot of these kids being recruited leave after one year think that the grass is greener, and in some cases yes. but when u leave the school because u are academically ineligible lose 2pts (academics and retention). done

Crazy. lol Well I wouldn't be surprised if the tournament had 3,000 for the championships this year. I know the crowd in Garland was nice for the championship mainly SU fans. I was hoping for a smaller venue but I think the Toyota Center won't be bad. How many folks came when TxSU and PV played there?

I really do not remember. The first game was not well attended because school was still out for the holiday break. The second game was much better attendance-wise but till not as good as on the campuses.

Well Well....Im really not surprised about Alabama St they are a walking violations waiting to happen they have issues every year that reaches the media. And then not to mention they hired the same compliance director who was at TXSo....Really???? But Valley Im shocked considering how a certain poster on here clearly said that Valley has the best Athletic Dept in Mississippi.............:smh:

Throw the book at all those who voted against JSU...I wish the schools involve nothing but athletic hardship and I hope the kids get with it and get their degrees...Thats it..We(JSU) haven't forgot....

And it looks like this is setup for JSU and SU to save the SCG....can we say another EPIC SCG????:lol:
