Since Barack Obama was sworn in as President

The Great Universities of Alabama State and Alabama A&M and Tuskegee sure that is a Fact......

But the Great State of Alabama or even the Great University of Alabama.....Hell to the NO.......

Wallace butted heads with President John F. Kennedy over desegregation. To stop the enrollment of African-American students Vivian Malone and James Hood, in the University of Alabama on June 11, 1963, Wallace stood in front of Foster Auditorium.

The Great State of Alabama or the Great University of Alabama....Yea Right!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway Roll Tide!!!!!!!!.....GTFOH!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK96lioness.

But for the record, I spent a lot of time on a lot of college campuses when I was an undergraduate. I spent a WHOLE LOT of time on Tuskegee's campus (30 minutes from ASU), some time on Troy's campus (40 minutes from ASU), and a little bit of time on Auburn's campus (45 minutes from ASU). That's just the way it was around here. Bama State is very centrally located to those campuses except UA (hour and a half from ASU) , and all students from all campuses generally partied together - especially if you're in a fraternity.
1 of my coworkers said he played for Bama State about 5 years ago. But on Friday's, he has yet to wear anything about Bama State. He has his crimson tide shirt on and his bama cap!!!!

It's different on this site because only the Bama's will show support for their BCS state schools. I haven't heard of any JSU, Alcorn, or Valley fans cheering ole miss or ms state. Same with SU and gsu fans cheeing for lsu. You see what Lioness said about U of Arkansas and most pv and some tsu fans dislike Texas. People are cheering for TX A&M mostly due to their current FB coach.

Most SWACkies agree that SEC is king of BCS football but don't like the school within their state. Only Bamas support their BCS schools.

That's because Alabama is the state in the SWAC footprint that has the most illustrious PWC football history. And those of you who are too dayum dumb to know that probably shouldn't be on here talking football. :smh: As I've said before, if I had grown up in Louisiana, Mississippi, or Arkansas I wouldn't be a supporter of their sorry arse PWC teams either.

But I do support the Crimson Tide.

But for the record, I recall SU fans cheering profusely ON THIS SITE back when LSU won the National Championship, and I have absolutely no problem with that. If you all want to stay in a segregated mentality, that's your business. I choose to move beyond that.

Roll Dayum Tide ! ! !

There is no history of success in MS. Thats why.

.Every BCS National Championship Football team has been from the Great State of Alabama.

Now, I know some of you geniuses out there are saying to yourselves, "wait a minute Deuce, didn't Florida win the championship in Obama's first year?". The answer is No. George W. Bush was President when Florida won the championship. Obama was President-Elect, and had not been sworn in.

Now you know.

Pic below taken TODAY at the White House.

The year that Auburn won, did they visit the White House and President Obama? Does anyone know? I never saw where Auburn visited the White House. Maybe I just missed it.

Oh well....SMH....I guess you can lead a horse to water but........

and as for me SUPPORTING any PWC......why....sure I watch the games....hell that's what's jammed down our throats on TV.....but you said SUPPORTING.....Pulling For....going buy their gear....Hell NO!....when they start SUPPORTING, Pulling For, Buying some of our gear, or just showing some damn RESPECT for my schools then maybe I'll revisit my feelings on the situation. I feel that theirs is no better than mine. Sad that many of our folks don't feel that way. But if you don't give a damn about me and mine and my accomplishments then why should I be the damned fool who does it for you. Respect goes both ways.

That's what I mean when I say "support". I root for them. They are my team. Yes, my team. The Hornets are also my team. The Lakers are my team. The Yankees are my team. I don't own any paraphenalia by them, but if I did, big deal.

I could give a rat's arse whether Alabama fans support my alma mater. And I don't need their respect to validate my school. Do you root for any pro teams? Do the Lakers (for example) have to support your school and buy your gear? I've never seen Kobe Bryant with a Southern shirt on. LMAO and SMH.

I feel that theirs is no better than mine.

As an institution, they are no better than mine either. As a football team, maybe so.

Respect goes both ways.

If you have a healthy knowledge of self, you don't go around worrying about others respecting you. Respect yourself, and the rest will take care of itself.

Roll Tide Roll

Bama has 10/11 Black starters on defense depending on the scheme and 7 Black starters on offense. Why not support/cheer for the team? I think it is a choice..........I don't get into what team to cheer/support or what frat/soro to pledge.......That is your choice......When I see these players in the mall, they act just like normal college kids away from home. From what I am reading there are many on this forum that have children at PWC or attended. Roll Tide!

PS: Ricky Smiley's brother, Anthony Smiley, played for the University of Alabama.

Another PS: AAMU will have a white quarterback next year!

Poor Deuce....Just lost...But my elders always said that you can't save everybody....some won't be able to comprehend what you're trying to teach them (ignorance) then there will be some who just choose not to learn or accept what you are trying to teach them (stupidity)....I don't know where you fit in, but I hope it wears off you some day and your eyes open to the real.

As for professional teams, that really doesn't have anything to do with the conversation. They do not compete in any way with OUR schools for athletes....But your beloved Tide does compete with Bama State for athletes and students weather you want to realize it or not. Again that is why they need those big budgets, it aint all for facilities you know. It goes into marketing and advertising to further brainwash folk like you and the youngsters of today who they realize are potential customers (students), supporters (fans), and employees (athletes)....That BCS championship your beloved Tide won the other night does nothing positive for your own school, but it does further the gap in support, students, and quality athletes....which in the long run hurts Bama State's bottom line.....now if you don't see this then you just don't understand business....

But good luck with that fence riding act........still SMH.....

Great....I can get with that in bold....as long as he is of QUALITY and he helps and Builds ALABAMA A&M.....If his name were A.J. McCarron I'd be even more for that...I don't give a damn what color the players are, for me it is more about the bigger issue...what institution do they represent and what that institution stands for and means to us as a people....

Let me preface this by saying I think it's stupid for folks to be fans of a team that are not in the same state where they live. You know, Lakers fans in Mississippi who have no ties to Cali. Or Duke fans in Texas who have no ties to the school or the area.

But I believe folks shouldn't be criticized for liking any team, especially if they live in the same state or city of said team. If folks from Bama like Bama, I don't have an issue with it. I, for full disclosure, back the major college teams in Illinois, especially Illinois and Northwestern. I grew up in the area. They were on TV and covered by the press. I was exposed to them a bunch.

That being said, the attachment is understandable. I believe that is the case with most who fly the SEC, B1G or ACC banner and have SWAC ties.

In Bold is what I am talking about....the more we support and buy gear and advertise for them, the more we lend to this system where we fall further and further behind. The support and gear buying is not returned by the other folk. So if we are spending some of our time, energy, emotions, and MONEY on them, that is equal to the some that we are not spending on ourselves. That some is not made up by what we pick-up from them cause they are not going to give that back to us....

One can't help but win if it is getting all of its own and portions of others, where as loosing comes when you get SOME of your own and none of the others....If you understand my logic. Yea it is cool to give your extras, but our HBCU don't exactly have any extras to give...we need all of ours.....

I don't own any Illinois or Northwestern gear. All the college gear I own now is that of JSU. And people can spend their money on what they want. I will always say this, nobody owes any entity anything. Not money, time or support without merit.

What we are talking here is tribalism at the end of the day. That's all sports fandom is at its basic level. It is a reflection of the society we live in. We're all broken into them -- race, class, gender -- sports is just another category.

It's just like this debate on blackness as it relates to RG3 or President Obama. Folks want to know if they're down for the cause. If you show any signs you're not 100 with the tribe, then your loyalty is questioned. That's kinda not fair at the end of the day.
