Since Barack Obama was sworn in as President

I understand all of that...my point is that it is because of us that this is so....as long as we continue the supporting and pushing of our athletes to those schools the cycle will continue...that's all I'm saying...There is a way to fix it, but we have been taught, lead, and tricked into go in so many DIFFERENT directions and to think individually and not collectively, to look at things just in the short term and on the surface not the big picture and long term that it probably will never happen....anyway..carry on...

We have always desired to be accepted by the establishment or the majority to prove we belong on that level after being thought of as inferior. Prior to intergration, there was a desire to play at what we now call BCS schools due to that same idea. And this is not limited to just sports.

It is why some people freak out over these reality TV shows and lament the unsavory images of black people they project. Some if us hate these shows because it allegedly hurts in our efforts to be accepted by or be on equal footing with white people.

Once we become part of mixed company, it will stay that way. History shows it from sports to business to politics.

Damn, I'm ready for football and it ain't but April! Somebody hide this thread at least until July. :smh:  :emlaugh:

Let me preface this by saying I think it's stupid for folks to be fans of a team that are not in the same state where they live. You know, Lakers fans in Mississippi who have no ties to Cali. Or Duke fans in Texas who have no ties to the school or the area.

But I believe folks shouldn't be criticized for liking any team, especially if they live in the same state or city of said team. If folks from Bama like Bama, I don't have an issue with it. I, for full disclosure, back the major college teams in Illinois, especially Illinois and Northwestern. I grew up in the area. They were on TV and covered by the press. I was exposed to them a bunch.

That being said, the attachment is understandable. I believe that is the case with most who fly the SEC, B1G or ACC banner and have SWAC ties.

I agree about people not liking their city/state team. That makes no sense to me. People in Philly who don't like the Eagles or Sixers get the  from me.

Them Bama's uplift The Tide before their own and Alabama nor Saban don't give a damn about them.:emlaugh:

That's the part they don't see. Most people who went to or support BAMA wouldn't care if AAMU and AlaState burned down tomorrow but they supporting them like they went there. No one is saying they can't cheer for their state school but this goes beyond cheering. Their alma maters are clearly second fiddle to them.

As for BAMA football, I can see the older generation admiring Bear Bryant for what he did for black athletes. Maybe that is the catalyst behind all of this.

But as far as MS State and Ole Miss, they could probably win the next 10 BCS championships and blacks in MS would not give a fukc!

Since Barack Obama been president has any of the two Bamas in the SWAC won the SWAC Football Championship, which is played in Bama?
