Oh Really....do honestly not see the business side of this...do you really not understand this situation....Of course they feel they are in competing with SU for students and fans......example.....where in the hell do you think those extra season book holders and seat fillers came from when they added on to their stadium years ago....yea you got it...a lot of them from our fan base...and then some from other near by school's fan bases....oh I guess you thought it was just by chance that their attendance went up and ours went down....their enrollment went up and ours went down....I KNOW you don't think that this was just some freak, accidental chain of events.....if you do then God Bless You...

I know you don't think much of our schools...or not as much of ours as you do of theirs, but let me please inform you we are on their radars....They understand business...they dot their I's and cross their T's.....while we are sleeping and being gullible to the entire situation...No they wouldn't be plotting anything....no not them...no nothing like that.....WOW! SMH!!!!!!!!!!!

SU's enrollment went down and BRCC's enrollment went up. SU has to compete with BRCC more so than LSU (if LSU at all). LSU is a national football program and the program's national appeal also brings more students there. I don't believe there are a significant number of former SU football season ticket holders now buying season tickets at LSU.

Threat how? Man, segregation is over. Even if LSU weren't a perennial top 5 program, SU still wouldn't be able to compare. Please elaborate and tell me how SU could be a threat to LSU?

Again...Fans and students.....we compete for fans and students every day....LSU and Southern are in the same business.....Higher Education.....Their clients/customers are students....until you understand this situation and look at it as they do then you will always find yourself needing an explanation....and explanation as to why we are always coming up short in revenues, ticket sales, and enrollment....Business...Business...Business....Fans and Students = Money.....we are competing for the same things......If you CHOOSE not to see what is real, well that is all I can do is give it to you....can't make you accept it....

Thank you I was going to bring up that fact about BRCC... and for your info (Ibejag) I do think very highly of Texas Southern U...not SU so much!

Obviously you don't live here in Baton Rouge, and if you do you either walk around with a blindfold and never watch the news or read the paper.....Or....you just CHOOSE to not believe what your eyes are showing you....I can't determine which...my degree was in Business not psychology...

But they still give money to LSU. Your opinion though. We do not care about LSU.

At the time I'm typing this I'm indeed living in Baton Rouge. I'm very well aware that SU's drop in enrollment coincided with BRCC's creation and expansion of their programs and SU ending its open enrollment policy. Also, when a student in Louisiana can get a TOPS Scholarship that made it easier to choose to go to LSU rather than SU. I know b/c I transferred from SU to LSU as an undergrad and I had a TOPS Scholarship. If tuition is free at state universities why go somewhere with bad customer service like SU?

Well, why even try to act like LSU wants to stifle SU? Trust no one is thinking about SU on LSU's campus. SU can't even get pass its own in-fighting and clinging on to out-dated business practices.

Yes dear I can tell.....lol.....SMH....But that's just my observation...

But SU...TSU...JSU...GSU...etc....we all fighting the same battles....

And for those of you who cant see it BRCC is just another part of the plan....for the record when they leave BRCC the majority of them aint going to Southern...guess where they are going though....

I don't know where you are getting your info, but the majority of the youngster around here have been CONDITIONED to go to LSU now....by which ever rout they would take...thru BRCC or str8 from high school. Again you can CHOOSE to believe that there isn't a competition if you will...but you'd be WRONG!

 so-called educated folks still showing they're dummies by the things that come out their mouth.

Wow....now I see.....

Oh and that poor customer service...and those other excuses...not reasons....excuses....to do what you wanted to do (USA=Free Country)...so instead of fighting to fix, you ran and joined....he man more power to you...there are plenty more like you out there...lots of them even work at Southern right now...been strategically placed as department heads, and chairs of departments....and you harp on poor customer service...that's all in the plan...well it worked on you...congrats! but don't feel bad...you're not alone....many many more out there like you....it's evident in the enrollment at the two Universities......but thanks for adding to my point!...lol

And don't get me wrong it is not just Southern that is in LSU's crosshairs...it is every University in this state...Southern is just the immediate target....I mean at one time Tulane was on par with LSU...was even considered a Rival...remember that....but New Orleans is very fertile ground....seek and destroy....now look at Tulane's athletic programs vs LSU's...you don't think that was planned that way.....Louisiana Tech use to run Sh!t in women's college basketball, but just so happens that at the same time LSU rose to be a national power in Women's Basketball, LA Tech's program all but disappeared...I know you guys don't believe your "FLAGSHIP" University would actually do anything like seek out another school in its state and take its glory to have as a treasure at LSU...I know you guys think toooooo much of that great institution to think they'd stoop to such tactics as that......I know you don't think they would have basic BUSINESS practices as "Take out the Competition".....I know....I know....it all just happened to happen that way....WOW!

I think you're the one coming up with excuses. Fight what? The Civil Rights Movement was fought so I could have a choice and I exercised my choice. Stop making excuses for ineptitude; professionalism doesn't cost a penny.

LA Tech Women's Basketball program going down has nothing to do with Leon Barmore retiring and LA Tech not hiring Kim Mulkey as Barmore's replacement?

Tulane sports programs going down has nothing to do with them making poor hiring decisions (Buddy Teevens, Perry Clark, etc.) and LSU hiring Nick Saban; as well as Tulane not playing in an on-campus stadium? What college football team has a home field advantage nowadays that plays in a NFL stadium? I can't think of one since Miami has fell off.

Did you read what I said.....SMH still.....go back and try it again...or not...doesn't matter to me....this has nothing to do with the Civil rights movement which you have obviously misunderstood...but that is a whole other conversation...What in the hell does the Civil rights Movement have to do with you trying to stand and fix what you perceived as a problem rather than quitting and running....if you had read what I said you should understand that the action you did take played right into the BS.

Ok dude...believe what you will and I'll roll with the truth....worn out now...beating dead horses is so tiring.....

Look man, it is a free market in Higher ED, either you compete or you don't. Hampton, Spelman, NCAT and NCCU have found their niches.

he's right as when LSU began to invest in certain programs other teams excelled in, those teams went to the gutter. Remember Tulane basketball? Tulane football?

they try in basketball but Louisiana isn't a basketball state compared to football on the college level hence no one has really broken away but LSU has tried

SU's enrollment and fb attendance has dropped and the fb attendance has dropped due to LSU's success. Every 5 fans don't renew their books at SU hurts SU much more than you all think - especially if 1 of those 5 attend LSU games

Sales are up this year though :) .

any you are right...I'm just tripping off how folk don't think there is a competition....

Sure, LSU and SU are both similar entities in that they are both universities with sports programs. But, that's where the similarities end. LSU is a major, nationwide sports program while SU isn't. And, that's no slight to SU; it simply is what it is.

Now, as far as LSU being more influential with the youth now, in particular, Black youth than SU now. I'd agree. But, that's because LSU has a prominent football program. Also, it doesn't hurt that LSU has its athletes visiting community schools in Baton Rouge. I saw some LSU volleyball players at Dufrocq Elementary. If SU wants to increase its popularity among the youth, they must stop resting on their laurels and act like it's a competition to get students. Are SU athletes talking to kids at these community schools?
