Re: Mississippi State/Mississippi Valley State Football Game Scheduled For 2013 Cance

Actually two brothers that went to JSU....:) And yes, Pete was key in the deal happening. There are a lot of backroom politics that go along sometime with situations such as this. Pete was apart of them. PERIOD....

Dang, do we know each other? Lmao. I guess we obviously both talked to the same booster. The king of the delta. The whole conversation arose because I mentioned that someone from the AD had let the cat out the bag about Boone's and Braddy's convos.

Re: Mississippi State/Mississippi Valley State Football Game Scheduled For 2013 Cance

They shouldn't want to play anybody on the FCS level even if they are a powerhouse FCS program. Hell they didn't want to play La Tech and cancelled playing Tulane a long long time ago. It serves them no benefit to play any school in the SWAC or Southland. LSU aint like Ms State and Ole Piss. They are National title contenders and always in the hunt for the SEC title. They have bigger fish to fry than the two SEC schools in our state that can't win consistently. If they were smart, they would merge. LOL.

Yeah, LSU looks down on every school in the state.

Re: Mississippi State/Mississippi Valley State Football Game Scheduled For 2013 Cance

I know Black people who attended Ole Miss who somehow acquired that snobbish attitude the white Ole Miss people have. Think they can look down on others who attend other schools. It's sad when you see a white person do it, but it's really sad when you see a Black person do it. Especially, when you know they were broke as Joe's turkey and just regular folks before they went to Ole Miss.

:shame:

Reminds me of people who went to another institution. Some of the most delusional people on earth.

:smh:

So...if we talk about LSU vs SU, it's off topic. But if we talk about Ole Miss and Black people, its on topic.

Re: Mississippi State/Mississippi Valley State Football Game Scheduled For 2013 Cance

Again, I dont do speculation...I deal in facts, things I have direct knowledge of and can prove. The deal was in the making before Dan Mullen was a thought at MS State. Access and Influence!!!

Wasn't this game scheduled when Croom was the coach at MSU?

Re: Mississippi State/Mississippi Valley State Football Game Scheduled For 2013 Cance

Which is good. Money stays in-state and both schools do benefit from it.

As far as the Ole Miss convo, I've ran across my fair share of those as well (snobbish black alums) and it's s_d. It's been mentioned before but I wouldn't dare say it in real life. Ole Miss and MSU merging would save the state so much money but that would be asking for a noose :lol

They can play SWAC schools in every other sport EXCEPT football and that sucks for them. They do think they are LSU when they haven't been consistently competitive since Eli was on campus :lol

Maybe they don't want to deal with J-Staters being around while they're tailgating with those CSA flags.

Mississippi State, Mississippi Valley State cancel 2013 football opener

STARKVILLE — Mississippi State and Mississippi Valley State will not meet on the football field in 2013.

The two schools recently canceled its opener scheduled for Aug. 31, 2013 in Starkville because of a rule prohibiting Football Bowl Subdivision teams from counting a win against an FCS team that does not meet the NCAA’s financial aid requirements, MSU athletic director Scott Stricklin told The Clarion-Ledger on Wednesday.

Mississippi Valley State falls below the guideline, which requires an FCS team to provide financial aid to at least 90 percent of its 63-man roster limit over a rolling two-year period. If an FBS team (MSU, in this case) plays an FCS team below that average, its win will not count toward bowl eligibility.

News of the cancellation was first reported by WABG in Greenville.

FBS teams are allowed to count one victory per season over an FCS team. MSU and MVSU filed paperwork asking for a waiver from the NCAA but it was declined in the spring, Stricklin said.

“We have started to get those numbers up in the future so we will have the opportunity to face our in-state counterparts,” Valley interim athletic director Donald Sims said in a statement.

Valley provides scholarships to about 50 percent of its roster limit, according to WABG.

MSU is expected to replace Valley on its 2013 schedule with another FCS team. Administrators could tweak dates in the non-conference schedule, which includes a trip to UAB and home games against Troy and Bowling Green, to accommodate a replacement.

“I have a pretty good idea of the direction we’re headed but we don’t have contracts signed,” Stricklin said.

The cancellation will hit MVSU in the pocketbook as well. MSU was scheduled to pay Valley $350,000 for the game — a payday exceeding Valley’s expected football revenue ($274,000) for the 2012 fiscal year. The one-year contract was terminated without a payout, Stricklin said.

Re: Mississippi State/Mississippi Valley State Football Game Scheduled For 2013 Cance

Hmmm.

I wonder if MSU and Valley can figure out how to get those contracts signed without the help of Massa Ole Miss. :(

I wonder if an attorney can figure out how there can be a contract for a 2013 game, but Valley is not getting paid although the game is no longer being played. :shame:

Well, shouldn't we have a date open next season?

They'd probably love that.

They'll probably end up with Jacksonville State though. Jacksonville State is looking to play a BCS team on that same date.

Re: Mississippi State/Mississippi Valley State Football Game Scheduled For 2013 Cance

Might not have been in the contract.

Even if it was in the contract. Valley is the one at fault here and they could have breached the contract. I think it's all for the best anyway. That team and that band would have totally embarrassed the SWAC and black people.

Yes you do...FIETS...The other brother..

Roo, so I am sure you played a role in those negotiations as well. You going to convince your brother to support an Ole Miss vs JSU game?

Just evil.:emlaugh:

Re: Mississippi State/Mississippi Valley State Football Game Scheduled For 2013 Cance

Who wants that? Our goals are to get a state of art Indoor athletic facility on campus within the next 3- 5 years. $15-20mil to build. If Ole Miss wants to donate they can...:)

Dude there is not much difference between Valley and Jackson State. :emlaugh: Valley would be no more or less embarrassing than Jackson State. Wake the hell up. These schools not only don't care about Jackson State but don't see much of a difference between Jackson State and Valley. I know this is a tough pill but drink some water and swallow it. :emlaugh:

Could Mississippi State fans tell the difference?

It's all the same to them.

These JSU folks are trying way too hard. As usual.
