My brother-n-law works at MS State and one reason why they don't want to play valley is because their alumns are asking "why?"
They know that playing valley really hurts them and many of their fans said they will not attend that game. Coach Mullen's office has been flooded with phone calls about playing valley.

They are hyped for JSU but not valley. I will see you on our homecoming if you want to continue this conversation.

In general, MSU fans don't put any distinction whatsoever between JSU, Alcorn and Valley. If they went to the Alcorn game, they will go to the Valley game.

If there are people calling and asking why play Valley, those same people called and asked why play JSU and Alcorn. They aren't singling Valley out. The JSU and Alcorn games were played and both were well-attended.

The Valley game would have been just as well-attended if for no other reason than it would be the first game of the season and they wanted to see how their team looked.

We played U of H in 2006 I believe or was it 07? I know it was hot as hell and there was a storm brewing in the Gulf. It was Labor Day weekend I believe.

We played them in 2008.

As previously mentioned, we did finish 3rd in the Commissioner's cup so something must be going right. But according to typical JSU poster, football is the only sport that matters and since Valley hasn't done that well the past 3 seasons or so, that means we suck at everything else without looking at any facts.

They shouldn't want to play anybody on the FCS level even if they are a powerhouse FCS program. Hell they didn't want to play La Tech and cancelled playing Tulane a long long time ago. It serves them no benefit to play any school in the SWAC or Southland. LSU aint like Ms State and Ole Piss. They are National title contenders and always in the hunt for the SEC title. They have bigger fish to fry than the two SEC schools in our state that can't win consistently. If they were smart, they would merge. LOL.
