It needs to be. I pray for the day when they completely ban 1-AA vs 1-A games. What purpose do they serve? Why is GaTech playing Presbyterian? I am glad that I am an alum on both sides so I can complain from both sides.

Which is good. Money stays in-state and both schools do benefit from it.
As far as the Ole Miss convo, I've ran across my fair share of those as well (snobbish black alums) and it's s_d. It's been mentioned before but I wouldn't dare say it in real life. Ole Miss and MSU merging would save the state so much money but that would be asking for a noose :lol
They can play SWAC schools in every other sport EXCEPT football and that sucks for them. They do think they are LSU when they haven't been consistently competitive since Eli was on campus :lol

I think every division should only be allowed to play within their division. PERIOD.
The only reason I would even slightly support JSU playing these teams is because other teams to choose to play these fundraisers will have a financial advantage over us. But if they banned the games totally, no team would have the advantage over the other and we would all have to learn to play within our means.

How would that work in sports other than football that regularly play D1-A schools?
Are you suggesting that they remove themselves from competing in the NCAA basketball and baseball tournaments? Competing in track and field. Tennis?

I don't follow. In all other sports, the SWAC is D-1, we can play Duke every week if we want. But speaking to that point as well, if we have two D-1 divisions in football, why not have two D-1 divisions in bball? It's not like JSU is competing with Ole Miss or NCState for bball or baseball recruits. They already characterize teams as major and mid-major. Why not just have a mid-major (D-1AA) division?

You're still overstating Pete Boone's involvement in the negotiations. He may have introduced Greg Byrne and whoever the JSU AD was, but Pete Boone WAS NOT at the table hammering out a deal between MSU and JSU. Go on somewhere with that.

Story I got was Braddy talked to Boone, Boone mentioned it to some boosters (including the two black guys (one has brother that went to JSU too) and boosters weren't going for it, and he sent to MSU.

The most Pete Boone could have done was let MSU know JSU was interested. To say that Pete Boone "brokered the deal" and "made it possible" for MSU and JSU to play is a stretch at best.

And yes, Pete was key in the deal happening. There are a lot of backroom politics that go along sometime with situations such as this. Pete was apart of them. PERIOD....
