BCS.........just take out the C and make it BS

I think that was more the case of a young Alabama team not knowing how to handle losing such a big game in the SEC Championship game, and losing one of their best starting OL right before the game. Not to mention they appeared to have cracked under all of the pressure to perform on a big stage.

Didn't they play in the "big stage" of the SEC all year? They had a month to get over losing to Florida. Utah simply came down to SEC country a dominated them like no other team had that year, including your beloved Gators. Utah was a damn good team that year, there is no shame in just simply admitting they were better than Alabama that night.

It's kind of hard for them to play these tough teams when the so call tough teams won't schedule them.

The Boise naysayers kind of look over this...

Plus as someone posted the link from two years ago, Boise State said they would play ANYONE without a return date. Oregon, Virginia Tech and Georgia accepted the challenge and all lost. Do you HONESTLY think a team like Alabama would open their season with a well coached team like Boise State? They saw what happened to the previous teams and want no part of that. But I guarantee you Saban and 'em will make sure to politic BSU out the BCS title game.

As I said before, Boise plays in a conference. They have a set amount of in conference games to play just like everyone else does.

Georgia is #15, Penn State is #12, and Arkansas is #8. Say what you will about Georgia and Penn State, but why leave out Arkansas? Alabama beat them by 24 points, while Arkansas beat both #20 Auburn by 24, and #13 South Carolina by 16. You say we're SEC elitists? What conference has won the last 5 BCS championships in a row, and will most likely have a team in the BCS championship game this year too? The SEC can talk the talk because they've walked the walk.

Arkansas also beat Texas A&M in a de facto road game too.

I am just stating what it looked like to me. All I know is Utah beat Alabama and we beat Alabama, but we also beat Oklahoma for the BCS Title.

Again, NOBODY is scared of Boise State. Get that out your head dude. Alabama has scheduled the likes of Oklahoma, Penn St(not a very strong team but still), Va Tech, Florida State. Who's scared of Boise? I think it's like this............it's almost a lose lose situation. like I said before, if you beat Boise, then people say, well, you SHOULD have beaten 'em and they take away some credit, but if you lose to 'em, they're gonna say, WOW, you lost to Boise State!!! "LOL LOL" and take away some credit. In the BCS system, you're not gonna get as much BCS points for beating Boise State due to their schedule....that's why Boise keeps getting shafted in the current BCS system.....that's why teams will jump them.....because they don't carry any weight other than people who SAY they can play with the "big boys" and a good pre-season ranking....other than that they carry no weight because of a weak schedule. You stand nothing to gain by playing and beating Boise State, but you stand a lot more to lose if you lose to 'em. it's a chess match almost. I think Boise can't obviously beat some good teams but that's just the way it is. Like I said, if I'm LSU or Bama, I already got enough to worry about with Auburn, LSU, Arkansas, Miss State, throw in a Florida, Georgia, etc AND if you look at LSU, they added an Oregon and WV on the road....so to hell with Boise State. If I beat Oregon on the road, I get more BCS points for beating Boise. I'd love to see Boise play an SEC west schedule. They would finish middle of the pack behind LSU, Bama, Ark.

So there would shame in losing to a top 5 team?

Right!!

If anything scheduling and beating (which is Va tech, Oregon, and a few other have FAILED to do) Boise would only boost your ranking because they are ranked so high every year. Again anytime a top 5 team challenges ALL of the top 25 to schedule them and Boise would come to them and there doesn't have to be a return game but very few do it...........That screams SCARED.

And I'm sick of hearing if this team was in this conference blah blah blah. Hell Boise St's defense held Adrian Peterson to 77 yards without a bunch of 5 star and 4 star players. They are well coached and if they were able to go to a super conference that allows them to recruit the 4 and 5 star players. To say what they would do if they did this or that is pure speculation.

They held Oregon to 8 points two years ago. Neither LSU or Auburn did that. (When was the last time Oregon was held to single-digits?) And their defense didn't allow Georgia inside the 25 once night during their match up earlier this season. Yeah, it would be a shame to lose to a team like Boise State.

You're not listening to what I'm writing. LOL All you're focused on is "people are scared of Boise" blah blah blah. You really think Alabama or LSU or anybody on that level is REALLY "scared of Boise"? really? That screams that you guys just don't like either of those teams maybe, I don't know. Look, I'm not saying Boise is a lesser opponent than Va Tech or the other schools. There's no shame in losing to a top 5 team and I'm not downing Boise State by any means, I'm saying look at the system. if you beat Boise, whether they are top 5 or not.........it's not going to help you as much as beating an Oregon or the other schools simply because the rest of their schedule is WEAK, it won't help you out in the long run in the BCS system and all that stupid computer points and stuff because of the way they run it. I don't agree with it but that's just the way it is. AGAIN, that's why Boise gets jumped over and left out because of that very thing. You don't stand as much to gain by beating them even if they are top 5............like I said before, it's a BCS chess match. ok so what if Boise held Adrian Peterson, good job, they did it one time. Can you do it week in and week out? Hell for that matter, Appalachian state beat Michigan, does that mean now they can compete in the Big 10 on a regular basis??? Yes they are well coached and a good team. But nobody wants to hear that until they move to another conference and quit playing UNLV, Air Force and other weak teams in that conference on a weekly basis. Also to say that people are scared of them is pure speculation too.

Watch what happens this year if Alabama wins out big and Stanford loses and Okla State lose.....Boise will get left out again............why.....because of a weak schedule. Congratulations.....you beat Georgia....a middle tier SEC team when compared to the SEC West leaders.

Since you don't wanna hear about if they were in this conference or that conference........In you honest opinion..........HONEST.....were would Boise finish in the SEC west? I think they win the East because the east flat out sucks.........

Ohh ok two years ago? Yeah that makes sense to compare a team two years ago to this year's games. :noidea: PV beat Grambling but does that mean since they beat Gram and Gram beat us that PV can beat us??? You can't use logic of what they did 2 years ago to this team or that team. Teams play each other differently depending on offensive and defensive styles. :idea:Does that mean the statue of liberty play will work against Oklahoma State.........I mean, they ARE both from Oklahoma right? Again, is Georgia on the level of LSU and Alabama? No it would not be a shame to lose to Boise. I'll say it again, I think they're a good team.

1. Yeah, I think schools from other BCS conferences don't want to play Boise on the Smurf Turf. Heck, the Mountain West told them they can't wear all-blue on their own field for conference games. LOL

2. Boise State is 3-0 against top 10 teams since 2006. So, Boise State is no App. State.

3. Boise State did move to another conference. They moved from the WAC to the Mt. West (an AQ conference).

4. First you say Boise wouldn't survive an SEC schedule. Then you ask what if Boise played in the SEC West. Why not the SEC East?

From the look of Alabama's schedule they haven't had to do it week end week out either lets take a look so far.....

Kent State-Wack
Penn St- Wack
North Texas- Wack
Arkansas-Challenge
Florida-Challenge
Vandy- Wack
Ole Miss- Wack
Tenn- Wack
LSU- The best

So judging from that are you telling me that a team like Bama couldn't fit Boise on the schedule in place of Kent St, N. Texas, or Georgia Southern?

I've lived in Louisiana for the majority of my life. There was a time when you said LSU and you laughed, Bama had down years, ect. You and I don't know what would happen. I would have never thought LSU would win a National Championship in my lifetime. You never know.

I think Boise St would be competitive in the SEC. They could finish in the top 3 of the SEC West especially once the recruits start rolling in after joining the conference. They have a great coach and staff and they get the most out of their players.

Yep. People forget that if Boise were in the SEC, they would get better recruits. Peterson is already turning two and three-star players into NFL prospects. Imagine what he would do with a steady stream of elite high school players in his program.

Kendrick, dude, just stop. 3 teams in 5 years means nothing to me. Boise State isn't the only team that can do that. That point doesn't help your case....I ask AGAIN..........can they do it WEEK IN and WEEK OUT? You haven't answered that yet. I also already said, they would win the SEC East. I bring up the West because you guys are basically saying they could beat top 10 teams week in and week out. NOT over a 5 year period. And I didn't say if they moved "to another conference"......I said a tougher conference, SEC, Big 12, Big 10, Pac 12 where you have to play top teams more than once on your schedule. You keep ignoring the fact that Boise beats ONE good team a year, that's great....prove to me that you can do it over an over again, i.e. LSU, Bama, Stanford, Oregon, Oklahoma.....etc and I don't mean this year, I mean EVERY year.

No doubt those teams listed as wack are wack with the exception of Penn State...they're not top but they are at least 8-1. No argument there though.......

Yet, that schedule because of Florida, Arkansas, LSU and then Auburn on the road at the end already trumps Boise State's schedule by miles.........agreed??? Sure they could fit Boise on there, but they don't need to, that's the point, BOISE NEEDS TO add more because of their conference. That's all I'm saying. Add more than just Georgia or Oregon once a year.

Let's see - Boise's schedule.

Georgia - ok
Toldeo - weak
Tulsa - weak
Nevada - weak
Fresno - weak
Colo State-weak
Air Force - weak
UNLV - weak
TCU - ok
SD State- weak
Wyoming - weak
New Mexico - weak

You can't even begin to compare that to Bama's schedule even with the wack schools on it. I think Boise ONCE THEY STARTED ROLLING could compete effectively.....pure speculation though.

yeah that's cool IF they get better recruits. we're talking about NOW, not what if down the road if they get recruits. You can say that about Jackson State for that matter.....if we got LSU's recruits or Miss State's recruits, we could compete too. What about now though.........not.

I agree with that. My thing is that Boise St can put the offer out there (we come to you and play you don't have to come to us) and that's all they can do. I don't see other conferences trying to add Boise St. They would boost the SEC or Big 12 more than Missouri IMO. None of this would really matter if there was a playoff.

You keep ignoring the fact that Boise beats ONE good team a year, that's great....prove to me that you can do it over an over again, i.e. LSU, Bama, Stanford, Oregon, Oklahoma.....etc and I don't mean this year, I mean EVERY year.

Well, an SEC team has beaten one good squad from the Pac-12, Big Ten and Big 12 every year in January over a five-year period and that conference is regarded as the best in the country.

Boise State has proven year in and year out it can beat a lot of good ranked opponents at home, at neutral sites and in bowl games. If Boise State was some Johnny-Come-Lately like App. State for example, then I could understand your point.

However, its not a fluke any more. They shouldn't have to be in the SEC or SEC West or any other conference to prove how legit their team is. That's not how it should work.

This year, Boise beat the current No. 14 team in the country to start the season. Last year they beat the No.10 ranked and No. 22 ranked team in the country. Two years ago, they beat the No. 16 team in the country and the No. 3 team in the country. Heck, they have a winning streak against Oregon for goodness sakes.

Nobody does it week in and week out because all of them line their schedules with cupcakes throughout the season. Rutgers one season played two HBCUs and I know Boise State is better than them. If you are going to require Boise State do it week in a week out, require it of everyone.

I agree with the way they're playing they would boost both conferences. Not sure why the Big 12 didn't go after them.

1. You keep missing the point. You're adding a Big 12, Pac 12, Big 10 oppenent to an already tough schedule if you're an SEC school. If I'm LSU, adding the top 1 or 2 Pac 12 teams should be enough considering I gotta play Bama, Auburn, Arkansas, Florida.....not only that...they added WV. They don't need to add that much. Same with Bama. Same with Arkansas. THEN, have to play a SEC championship game and THEN have to go play a Big 12, Big 10 or Pac 12 opponent for the National TItle....you damn right I should be considered the best if I can do all that.

2. Boise State as you stated before has proven it could beat ONE good team in 5 years. once again, you ignore when I ask if the can do that week in a week out PLUS a conference championship game. That IS how it should work when the other teams have 4 to 5 top 10-15 opponents on their schedule on ONE regular season. Boise does it ONCE a year or so. Good, you can do it ONCE a year.....I should get rewarded before you because I do it 4-5 times a year. I don't know why you can't see the logic in that. YOu get rewarded for your resume'......everybody knows that. Can they beat a team from a big conference once, sure they can, can they do it 4 or 5 times a year???

3. See my point above......you keep giving me ONE big win a year. Other teams have more.

4. Don't be silly :) you know doggone well what I mean when I say week in and week out. I think your argument stems basically from a dislike of the SEC. :-)

Every team can't play in the same conference or even same schedule just to prove to you and everyone they deserve to play for the national championship.

It's not the SEC I don't like, it's the system I don't like. The SEC just so happens to be part of it. Bama lost at home to LSU and they only dropped one spot in the BCS standings. B.S. They shouldn't get a rematch even if they win out and Stanford and Okie St. Boise State, if they go unbeaten, should get that. They would have earned it by winning all the games on their schedule.

If every week is a playoff as BCS supporters like to say, then the Tide should have dropped further than just one spot.

I don't agree with Bama only dropping to #3 either.

Ok I'm gon leave on this note. We know now the system works whether we agree with the system or not. It's football life and Boise has to deal with it. Yeah Boise may win all the games on their schedule......but you can't do it that way.....Houston may beat all the teams on their schedule, it doesn't make either team the best in the country. You have to look at the body of work. Same for all schools. Just because Boise goes undefeated, it doesn't make them better than Bama......it's supposed to be the two best qualifying teams to play for the title, period. And because of that, Boise doesn't meet the requirements, bottom line. When I say qualifying, I mean schedule, body of work, etc.

Boise if they keep going will have 1(Georgia) or possibly 2(TCU) quality wins. LSU, if they win out will have 9 - Oregon, Miss State, WV, Auburn, Florida, Bama, Arkansas, SEC title game and BCS Title - who's better according to body of work. That's how it is.

Basically what you are saying, and what the voters have been saying for years, is that the BCS is nothing more than a beauty contest. I get it. That's why I hate the system. Too many subjective factors play a role in this.

I mean, what is the point of ranking Boise State or anyone else in the top 5 or top 10 if no matter what they do, the voters will piss on them anyway? The system is rigged to keep the Boise State's of the world out of it. It is a shame that before the season starts a third of teams have no shot at winning the national championship just based on the way the system is structured.

Dammit, I said I was leaving. LOL I get your point but no it's SUPPOSED to reward the teams with the tougher road to the end. Boise's road is not tougher than LSU, Bama, Stanford, OSU........can you agree? I know they beat Georgia but as a whole, is it a tougher road than those teams?

It's like this.........if we both line up together.........run a race.........I run the 100yard dash and you run the 50 yard dash. I turn in a time of 10.0 and you turn in a time of 6.0, looking at the numbers are you faster than me? Nope......I ran longer race and when broken down, I'm faster than you, you just APPEAR to be faster on the surface looking at the results. ok now I'm gone. LOL I hope Boise gets to play LSU for the title.

I agree with the way they're playing they would boost both conferences. Not sure why the Big 12 didn't go after them.

Because Boise State brings nothing to the table in their conference. TV markets? Academics? Sports other than football? Prestige?
