BCS.........just take out the C and make it BS

LSU won the SEC championship, though. That's why they still were able to play for the national title with two losses. LSU and Bama both win out, the Tide shouldn't play in the BCS title game.

I guess not factoring in the possible scenario of Oklahoma State losing to Oklahoma, Stanford losing to Oregon or Notre Dame, and Boise State slipping to TCU.

Things to ponder.
You lose, on your own field, in the second half of the season. You don't win your conference. You don't win your division and you think you deserve to play for a national championship? Really?

If the sec is so tough, how come someone goes undefeated every season? Sounds like MJ and the bulls to me.

Bama better hope they make the championship game because the last time they played an off brand school in a bowl (Utah) they got to' out the frame! They don't want any part of Boise away from Tuscaloosa.

If they don't like the constraint of having to win your conference to play for a national championship, maybe they should move to a less competitive conference. C-USA has an opening.

Lastly, everyone likes to talk about Boise being in a lesser conference, except none of these schools will go play in Boise and none of them beat Boise when they do play. Why do i need to beat everyone in the SEC when I can beat it's champion. I seem to remember Tuskegee claiming a swac championship last year without the week end week out swac competition.

If Oklahoma State goes undefeated and wins the Big 12....and LSU goes undefeated and wins the SEC...They should be in the National Championship. Fugg Alabama.....they lost their chance Saturday night.

And looks like Boise St may have an argument. Their Strength of Schedule is higher than Stanford, Oregon, Arkansas, Clemson, Va Tech, and Penn St. http://collegefootball.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1289624 So you mean to tell me that if any of those teams I named other than Boise St goes undefeated they would be in the discussion for the BCS Title but little ole Boise St plays (according to the experts) a harder SOS and gets looked over. That's a complete crock of shat.

Boise State still has New Mexico and Wyoming on their schedule, which will help kill their SOS, even with the boost of beating TCU, should it happen.

Some remaining games for the other teams mentioned:
Stanford still has Oregon and Notre Dame
Arkansas still has LSU
Oregon has Stanford and Southern Cal
Penn State finishes with Nebraska, Ohio State and Wisconsin
Clemson still has South Carolina, and a possible rematch with Virginia Tech in the ACC title game
Virginia Tech has a game at Georgia Tech this week, and possibly the ACC title game

Come the end of the season, all of those teams will most likely have a better SOS than Boise State. I'm thinking a few of them are going to lose between now and then, so they won't catch Boise State in the standings anyway.

Man all of that is ridiculous. Take the 6 big conference Champs and give 4 wildcards and let them battle it out for the Championship. This current format is filled with opinions and determined by computers. That's not how you go about determining a champ.

Basically... and ESPN's bias against Boise State and the non-BCS schools is just ridiculous. I mentioned before to let the 11 conference winners and a wildcard go at it in a playoff with the top four getting byes the first week and the next four getting home games.

And folks let's not forget that Houston is #11 in the BCS. A few more teams lose ahead of them and them beating a RANKED USM team in the C-USA team helps them out a lot..

2006- Florida (13-1)
2007- LSU (12-2)
2008- Florida (13-1)
2009- Alabama (14-0)
2010- Auburn(14-0)

Obviously Oklahoma State is going to be in the championship game if they win their last 3 games. A win over Oklahoma would seal the deal.

You sure about that? I can remember ESPN really hyping Boise State up when they beat Georgia.

Firstly, let me say that I'm all for a playoff system. With that said, all this talk about if you don't win your division you don't deserve to be in the championship game is a joke. Let's take the SEC. Three of the top 10 teams are in the SEC, not only are they in the same conference, they're all on the same side of that conference, the SEC West. Comparatively speaking the SEC East is weak. The two best teams in the SEC just played this past weekend. I still think they are the two best teams in the country. I remember a few years back when the University of Hawaii played Georgia in the Sugar Bowl. Hawaii came in with all that hype because they were undefeated and had a high powered offense, however they had a cupcake schedule similar to the schedule of Boise State. Georgia wasn't undefeated, but they kicked Hawaii to sleep 41-10. Just think if that would've been the national championship game. It would've been a farce. Strength of schedule does and should matter.

Let's use the NFL as an example. The Steelers in 2006, the Giants in 2008, and the Packers in 2011 all won the Super Bowl, and neither of them won their division, so all that talk about being not being qualified for the championship game just because you didn't win your division is hogwash.

If you watched the last few BCS shows and College Gamedays you would see what I am talking about. Corso said that Boise State don't deserve to be in anyone's national championship game. Herbstreit is saying to put the two BEST teams in your opinion (not the most deserving) and all they did on this past BCS show was constantly pretend like BSU didn't even, constantly saying Stanford and Oregon and that if any of those schools have a loss they should go ahead of Boise. Planting the seeds in the voters heads to do the rematch with Bama if OSU and Stanford lose...

They are straight igging the fact that Georgia is moving up the rankings and that win is better than ANY win on Stanford's schedule (who only beat an overrated #25 Washington)

If the purpose of the BCS is to pit the two best teams against each other with idea of them playing for the national championship, the least we can expect is that one of those squads would win their division.

How can Bama be considered the second best team in the country if they can't even play in their own conference championship game?

And to compare the BCS to college football is ridiculous. 1. The FBS doesn't have a playoff system (or Wild Cards for that matter). 2. If the NFL were like the FBS, Atlanta and New England would have played in Super Bowl last year as a result of having the best two records in the NFL. Green Bay, New York and Pittsburgh would have never won the Super Bowl in previous year under a BCS-like system.

Boise State ain't Hawaii. Never mind that Boise has built a 68-5 record since 2006 with a 5-1 record against top 20 teams and a 3-0 mark against top 10 opponents. (including bowl games) since 2006.

Once Boise State beefs up their schedule, they will get taken more seriously. Playing ONE ranked team and a bunch of scrubs ain't gonna cut it if you wanna be taken seriously. If Boise State were in the SEC or in any better conference, they would not have that 68-5 record since 2006.

Being a conference winner of one conference doesn't mean you're better than all the non-conference winners of other conferences.

1. I was thinking BCS when it should have been the NFL. Sue me.

2. I didn't think Utah was better than 'Bama prior to the Sugar Bowl a few years ago. We all saw how that went.

3. Why does Boise have to beef up their schedule to be taken seriously when they were preseason No. 5 in 2011, preseason No. 9 in 2010 and preseason No. 14 in 2009 and preseason No.11 in 2008? Their preseason ranking has improved every year. That means the voters have gained respect or the Broncos over time to rank them ahead of schools in BCS conferences. When it comes to Boise at the end of the season, it comes down to a political game the Broncos can't win.

4. I hate when people say if X team were in this conference, they won't have Y record. If my aunt had nuts, she would be my uncle. Boise State has only played the games on their schedule over the years. They can't help that schools from BCS conferences won't play them. I mean, if the WAC, and now Mountain West was so easy, why aren't they're more schools like Boise State from those conferences reeling off consistent nine, 10 and 11-win seasons?

5. If you want to be respected, win games. Bottom line. It doesn't matter what conference you are in. Win games. Win your division. Win your conference and you have to right to gripe about being left out of the party.

Preseason rankings are a joke dude, with the USA/AP and other polls. There are no preseason BCS rankings. Those rankings don't come out until about halfway into the season, which is how it should be done actually. Those other preseason rankings are just people guessing. Now it's as if you're saying strength of schedule doesn't matter. That's absurd. If you want to be respected, you need to have several "quality" wins. Playing a bunch of cupcakes does not produce those quality wins. Has Boise offered to come down to Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, etc to play those teams at those team's home stadium. Hell since Notre Dame is an independent, why don't they just schedule 11 or 12 cupcake games so they can have an undefeated season and go to the national championship? The bottom line is that a weak schedule gets you no respect. Have several quality wins, and you have a right to gripe about being left out of the party.

Actually, they have tried. This article is from two years ago.

RUSTON, La. – Is it cowardice or collusion?

Boise State athletic director Gene Bleymaier is all but begging for a major opponent – any major opponent – to play his Broncos, particularly in 2011. He can hardly get his calls returned. Not by the SEC. Not by the Big Ten. Not by anyone.

Bleymaier is making a nearly unheard of offer in college football scheduling – Boise will bring its popular, high-profile, top-10 team to any stadium in any town to play any big name team in America in 2011. And they don’t have to return the date in Idaho.

So far, no one has bit.

ESPN has even become involved trying to broker a deal that will almost assuredly be nationally televised. Still no luck.

It’s the kind of non-conference game that should have schools salivating. Boise delivers an opponent that will challenge your players, exposure that will extend your brand and a home game that will excite your fans.

“It’s been surprising how many big schools have not been receptive of us coming to their place,†Bleymaier said.

This is the conundrum for the upstart program and every non-major conference school trying to battle for national respect.

If you are Bama, Notre Dame, Michigan or Oklahoma, why would you schedule Boise State (a perennial top 15 team), at the start of the season and risk losing when there is really nothing to prove? The only school I know who has not done that in recent years was USC when they scheduled Va. Tech, Auburn, Arkansas and Ohio State at the beginning of seasons during their hostile takeover of the then Pac-10 under Pete Carroll. Now LSU has played a good non-conference schedule this season. Gotta respect that.

Here is the "murderers row" of schools Bama has remaining on its schedule:Mississippi State, Georgia Southern and Auburn. Among the wins the Tide has already garnered included the likes of Kent State, Penn State, North Texas, Ole Miss, unranked Florida and Vandy. How "quality" are those wins?

Because the BEST team in the country is also in their conference AND THEIR DIVISION.

That's laughable.

The fact of the matter is that before last saturday's game, LSU and Bama were the two "best" teams in the nation . . . and they still are. Regardless of their current "rankings".

Roll Tide ! ! !

Alabama lost on their home field. Their argument to stay in the top 2 is gone, especially since there's undefeated teams in major conferences still out there. Top 1 loss team? Yes they are. #2 in the country right now? That ship sailed with the crappy field goal attempts Saturday night.

Thank you... that's what they SCREAM on ESPN all the time. Boise State is NOT an independent school. They are in a conference. They have to play the teams in their conference. They have played Oregon, Virginia Tech and Georgia in consecutive opening games and WON them all. What more are they supposed to do?

Virgina Tech is the only major BCS school that I know that opens their season with a major school consistently... even tho I know that the SEC is the best conference, they consistently load up their schedule with the Kent State's, Troy's, MTSU's and Wofford's of the world. YET Boise doesn't play any cupcake Sun Belt or Southland schools and still get talked about

To further support your point, think back to the 2009-2010 Sugar Bowl that had SEC runner-up Florida (12-1) vs. Big East Champ Cincinnati(12-0). Cincinnati was very close to playing in the BCS National Championship game against Alabama due to Texas' near loss to Nebraska in the Big 12 title game. Florida embarrassed them in New Orleans and showed that the Big East had no business playing in any BCS game. If they didn't call off the dogs, Florida could have hung 100 on them.

Look at Florida's Schedule:

vs. #3 Alabama
at #1 LSU
at #20 Auburn
vs. #15 Georgia
at #13 South Carolina
vs. Florida State

Why in the heck would you schedule any more tough opponents?

On the flip side, look at Boise State's Schedule:

vs. #15 Georgia
vs. TCU

Knowing that your conference schedule is weak, you obviously have no business scheduling more cupcake teams.

What does Cincy losing to Florida two years ago have to do with Boise State prospects in a potential BCS game?
