Very true, look at a school like Marshall, which was one of the dominant FCS/I-AA schools in the early 90s. I think they played for the title 5 times in 6 years, winning twice. They moved up around the same tame as Boise State with no real plan other than 'we dominated I-AA, we can be dominant in I-A,' and now they aren't even a top tier team in the MAC.

Boise is the state's flagship school.....we can't compare their move to us

For every Boise, there's a ULM, La Tech, FAU, whatever you never heard of getting beat just for the fun of it....

Boise is not the flagship school. They just enjoy being in the biggest city. The University of Idaho is the Flagship State school. But obviously the alums there have less pull than Boise State alums.

Those other schools you named are in states with too many other schools. LOL. We missed our chance to move. We should have done it back in the day. We would be in better shape had we done that. Now we can't afford too.

People was too busy "laughing" at the La. Tech, La Monroes, and La Layfeyettes to understand that. heck, it was only a few short years ago that people was laughing at and calling Con-USA a joke as compared to us. Our leaders have no vision and has never had any forward thinking vision.

It is what it is and we are what we have become. Just like you said, it is too late now.
 
Bet TCU and Boise State are wondering if they can withdraw from a conference they just joined. Look like they jumped the gun 2 years ago.

App State could join a FBS conference like E. Carolina and be fine. The ACC wouldn't take them anyway. No BCS conference will take a FCS school unless their basketball team is already in the conference like UCONN was or if Villanova or Georgetown ever decided to move up. But App State has the resources to move to a conference like the MAC or whatever conference E. Carolina or Troy is in. They could survive that way and get a to a lower tier bowl. Hell they got more students than Ole Piss and Ms State. LOL.

East Carolina is in CUSA.
 
UT-San Antonio and Texas State are moving to the WAC in 2012. UTSA got their invite before they even fielded a football team. BTW, their first ever game was Saturday and drew 59K fans
 
PV would never sue....not tied at the hip to TSU...someone said the TSU folks they spent the entire luncheon today talking about PV instead of their own team...even had a forensic expert extract Northern's comments from a SWAC teleconference to talk about :emlaugh:

UTSA had 3 years to build that game but they do have 30K students or so....that alone makes things much easier
 



Well, while the cat is out the bag (UT-SA), don't you all overlook what's occurring in the southern sector of Dallas. :read: UNT-Dallas is about to start offering athletic scholarships for... football (down the road) and MW basketball-track/field first. :read:

Texans who have not advanced their school's athletic position are literally being left behind.

Are they joining the SWAC?
 
Folks have to realize that conference alignments have more factors that just athletics. I.e., the SEC needs Vandy for academic purposes, its not all about football match ups people. The Big Ten just won't accept just anyone, schools accepted into the Big Ten have to be up to par academically, and the presidents make sure of that. Both Nebraska and Penn State were up to par with the rest of the schools, and added to the value of the CIC (which played a major role in the decision to bring in those 2 schools).
 
PWCs have inquired though but how do they benefit us long term? Needing a home and being beneficial in a home is two different things
