And i'm sure Obama will use that to his advantage, hell i would lol. Btw, SU tpt,time Obama does something for an HBCU he will be criticized hard. I think what he needs to do and urge the churches and companies to start helping more. Churches need to play a more important role in the black community and companies could make themselves look great if they pump some money into HBCU's and public black schools and implement many community outreach programs to lure the kids off the streets, keep them busy and put money in to educate them. Now those are some things he can do that one President hasn't done. I think Obama is out of touch about the black community and HBCU's really. Can't fault him for that. It's not that he isn't reaching out to black more on purpose. Dude has a sh!tload of problems to deal with. Also, did he promise anything specifically to the black race before he became President or did many blacks just speculate that he would automatically do. I think black race needs to make it know and tell Obama what the black race needs and wants. If the gays can tell him what they want and expect i'm sure the black race as a whole can. We can't expect something dude didn't promise.

So it is something that is long past due for a white or black president. First of all, the objective of any first term President is to get a second term. Obama - with the cards being dealt the way they are in this country now in terms of the Tea Party, Republicans, Birthers, pissed off Democrats, and Independants, he is doing a helluva job for his approval rating to still be where it is. With a crazy House of Rep headed by the Reps anything that is too moderate presented by Obama will be soundly rejected. Right now the Republicans all over the country are looking like fools in the eyes of americans - even the ones that voted for them - and because these Republicans will in now way whatsoever try to find compromise with the President - they will continue to look like fools and the bad guy when it is time for elections in 2012. Now I feel Obama could have been less deliberate in how he governs - and be more demonstrative at times - but overall he has to play it cool and moderate - that is until his 2nd term.

As for funding for HBCUS etc -the Ryan budget proposed for FY11/12 looks to cut pell grants and other educational funding and you think HBCU funding would make it thru? In politics you fight the fights you can win - you have enough going against you as it is and then you want to add extra to the fights? And in terms of holding the President accountable - do that - but hold EVERYONE accountable up that chain of command. What have local and state legislators done? What have the community organizations done? Has the LA Congressional Delegation asked for assistance in LA? If they havent - how is it the President's fault that SUNO is having issues and the local and state level of government havent done jack - it is the state making the decision to close it -since when does the President arbritraily come in and overrule a decision made at the state level?

The other things you talk about - that aint got jack to do with the president. At what point do black folk take on the responsibility of we aint handling our own? We don't value education, we dont value law, we dont value hard work - that is not the president - that individual and family responsibility. And IF we handled all of those things own our own end - the other things mentioned will then fall in place - we will hold people accountable to us - we will collectively demand more and will accomplish more.

I am not trying to change your opinion to fit mine. President Obama doesn't advocate same sex marriage. He has stated that we all have "choices," and we make choices. It is not up to us to judge people. He is a God-fearing man whether you or others want to believe it or not. He has also stated that women should have choices when it comes to abortions. God gives us all choices, but this doesn't mean that He wants us to do wrong. The president is not telling women to have abortions and he is not telling the gays and lesbians to get married, he is only stating that if people choose to live a certain way we cannot and should not discriminate against them. We cannot discriminate against them because they are not doing what we want them to do. He is not just living in the White House...He is working harder than any president that has ever lived in the White House. And , as black people, what we keep forgetting is that he is just not a president for black people, he is the president for all people. He hasn't made anymore cuts to HBCU's than the previous presidents.' I don't agree with all of his policies, but at least he is working his butt off to keep this country afloat. The man inherited a mess and he is striving every day to get this country back to some normalcy.
