As far as jobs are concerned, everyone I know who works in that industry is still working. The deepwater folks are flying out to work their hitches in Singapore, Algeria, Brazil, etc but they are working.

A lot of them left the US to work.. that's not a good thing. And a lot or out of work. You may not know any, but I do... that's not a good thing.

Oh, you are so right about that. I have a relative (God bless her) who every time one of her kids has a stomach ache or is a little sick she runs them to the ER. And it's never anything serious. The standard home remedy or some over the counter medicine will work.

My answer is, what was the point of even electing a president just because he was black? Just to make history? What is that going to do for the future generations of blacks? what is that going to do for our current state in the US?

I met Trump personally here in New Orleans shortly after Katrina.. Dude rode around this city and took a good look at the neighborhoods and all of the schools. Still to this day I remember him making the same comment he made on TV. We give all this money to foreign countries to build schools but look at the shape these schools in here in New Orleans. Dude was really sickened by what he saw.

Here in New Orleans, we just have gotten use to the slums we had to live in and corrupt politician made us just get use to it.

I actually expected Obama to not do much for HBCU, sad but true. He didn't attend and HBCU and the immediate people around him aren't from HBCU's so he is ignorant of many things probably. He's not perfect and has so much on the table and HBCU's are the least of his focus, sad but true. The fact is white peeps run the U.S. and African American's will never get a boost because many don't want to see our race prosper. They fake like they do but in all actuality they don't. I wish we as a race stand up more but many are from broken homes, the streets and can't see the end of the tunnel and the people in Washington know that, they don't give a damn. Just like i heard they are cutting a lot of money from WIC and know damn well many parents need that but as long as it's not close to home they don't care. Now i know the black race have people that are lazy, that try to beat the system but there are many black people that are trying and need that extra push for them to prosper but they can't even get that.

Right now the perception of education for blacks is...

WHITE IS right! and many of them can't get into those WHITE schools because of the POOR education system they are brought up in. They OVER LOOK HBCU's ! Because most HBCU grads LEAVE the hood in order to work in their FIELD!


So the majority of poor kids don't see the success rates and the benefits of HBCU's. Then you have a perception that HBCUs ain't shyt... Because the most popular students at the school often play basketball or football and where they end up?

Alot of those ignorant stats you list is because of a lack of GOOD education.

I think what he needs to do and urge the churches and companies to start helping more. Churches need to play a more important role in the black community and companies could make themselves look great if they pump some money into HBCU's and public black schools and implement many community outreach programs to lure the kids off the streets, keep them busy and put money in to educate them. Now those are some things he can do that one President hasn't done. I think Obama is out of touch about the black community and HBCU's really. Can't fault him for that. It's not that he isn't reaching out to black more on purpose. Dude has a sh!tload of problems to deal with. Also, did he promise anything specifically to the black race before he became President or did many blacks just speculate that he would automatically do. I think black race needs to make it know and tell Obama what the black race needs and wants. If the gays can tell him what they want and expect i'm sure the black race as a whole can. We can't expect something dude didn't promise.
