25-30K in one year is the same as 12-15K two straight years. We do have expenses either way tho...to pay to travel the next year in a home-home or two payouts to a D2. However, I do agree an opponent that can draw at least 20K to Memorial. Just not sure who that will be. I was hoping that the DSU game would take off. They have more alums in MS than Alcorn but I guess they are just not very interested in football. I think FAMU should be our first choice but if we don't get them, I would certainly bring Delta State back. They are a quality opponent and they are cheap to bring in. They were quietly our best win of the season. Third time might be the charm for them. Their AD should also push the game because if they pull their weight, they could get a bigger payout. I also like the idea of starting your season off at home every year.

With Valley, it's damm near 100% profit because the football team and band can "basically" drive to Starksville in their cars and be back on Valleys campus before the cafiteria closes. Can't be more than 1 hour from Valley to Starksville if that long.
The AD at Mississippi State said when they scheduled us that 1st year, he was going to start playing all 3 FCS teams in Mississippi instead of paying a team nobody here has heard of to travel 3,000 for their 1st game. TSU has played in EVERY Atlanta Classic, just as TSU has played in EVERY Southern Heritage Classic. Tell your source he ain't shat, and stop spreading bullshat. Both Classics are TSU's.

I just find it interesting that a school like FAMU, who has been slutting themselves out to FBS schools for the last 11 years, is now looking to schedule a home-and-home with an FCS school who does not participate in the playoffs. Something does not smell right and I do not trust FAMU. :smh: I say we go the FBS route and call it a day.
For the record, I'm from the East Coast and FAMU does not travel well up that way. They only bring large crowds to big classics and Orangeburg. When it comes to NCA&T, NSU, Hampton, etc., they do not travel well. Their band does not travel outside of big classics and an occasional trip to Orangeburg, too. After the way their president b*tched about the Legacy Bowl and boycotted the MEAC-SWAC Challenge, we should all blackball playing them. Yall are some suckers. We (JSU, Southern, Bama State) bring our band, cheerleaders, and large crowds to Tallahassee but they don't do the same for us. That's bad bid'ness. Sounds like FAMU has taken a page out of D. Whyte schools' playbook. Fugg, FAMU. :lol:

1. If we do schedule an FBS squad next fall, it will only be our 3rd FBS team in the last 20 years. How do you figure that JSU is begging? What's sad is that FAMU has annually had their legs spread yet their coaching hasn't gotten any better and their athletic department is still deep in debt. The fugg are yall doing with all that money?
2. We have not played FAMU since 2003 when you all beat a 2-10 James B*ll-coached team, 28-14 in Indy.
3. I have the '95 and '97 games on tape and JSU definately brought a large crowd to Tallahassee; way more than you guys have ever brought to Jackson. The Boom didn't go to Tallahassee in '97 because The 100 didn't return the Boom's trip from '95 in 1996. Besides, your band never really travels to its own MEAC games like BCU does so I know The 100 won't come to Jackson.

JSU will have a nice crowd at home during Labor Day weekend regardless of who we play next season. I personally don't want JSU to get hoed by FAMU in a home-and-home series like Alabama State did. I honestly think we'll have a larger crowd at home against TU because TU travels very well.
The BCU comment was not a jab; just a statement. BCU traveled to NCCU this season and usually travels to play Hampton, NCA&T, and SC State. The 100 never really travels past Orangeburg unless its a classic. The 100 has not been to A&T since 1999, to NSU since 1998, and who knows the last time they've been to Howard or Morgan. Even when FAMU and SU had their series, The 100 has only been to Baton Rouge once in recent memory while the Jukebox routinely went to Tallahassee.
I personally feel that since you all feel that playing the SWAC in a bowl game is so "chittlin", "c**n", and "backwards", you guys should not even be looking in our direction to play us during the regular season. Just do like BCU and schedule Shaw, Savannah State or Edward-Waters for Labor Day.

Actually, it is better to have the larget game but it's not that far off.
Using the raw numbers (and 6yr old data on expenses) 25-30K in one year would be about the same as 15-18K two straight years.
However, those are raw numbers neglecting payouts to the D2 and travel to the opponent the following year. Those numbers are too variable to guesstimate.

Its good to have one big money game at home every year. When SU comes to memorial, it's ok to bring in a Delta State that draws 15K. But this coming year, we need a big money maker. And if we can't get that at home, going the FBS route is the next best thing money wise.
