Mega-Churches facing forclosure....

Sorry.
But I don't have sorrow for these so-called mega churches.
They are nothing more than schemes for a circle of hustler's to get rich tax free.:lecture:

I stopped looking at these places when they started building 'Theme parks for God", Hotels, retreats, Mega Mansions, all at tax exempt status.
Don't want to pay taxes on nothing but always want to be political king makers.

Folks can't pay their tithing anymore, because if you have a 10,000 member congregation with half (5,000) paying their 10% and the average salary is$30,000 per year that's at least a $125,000 monthly revenue.

$30,000x10%x5,000 /12=$125,000

Noooo that's Lakewood. They just purchased the Summit from the city for $7.5M cash after having paid a 30 year lease up front. Basically got that huge bldg on prime property for about $30M total and with no debt.

So, what was Olsteen talking about, then? Like I said...I didn't hear everything...and, that was what I got from the couple of comments he made on camera. I thought the comments were odd, due to the turnout they're known for getting...but, you never know. That's why I asked.

Churches on average get closer to 20% of the congregation to tithe. 50% would have most pastors smiling from ear to ear every day.

And Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg, VA, which is the late Rev. Jerry Falwell Jr.'s church now being pastor by his son, is suing Virginia to remove the law that limits churches from buying over a certain amount of property without paying taxes within the state's county and city jurisdictions.

There would be a lot of church folks in jail.

I know that's the truth. I will never forget when I attended this mini mega church and for the Pastor's birthday they ask us to wait until after the service to give him his love offering. I thought that seem kind of weird so I went searching for answers. Apparently if you give him his love offering inside the sanctuary it is taxable, but if you give it to him outside of the sanctuary it is tax free.

In that case, that would be even more money, which is like $250,000 per month, basically Rip-0ff Artists.

Some on city council expressed concern that the city was not getting a good deal on the sale of the building. A couple of them stalled the approval for a few weeks before the mayor was able to convince them that it was a good deal for the city.

That's what you saw Osteen talking about. He was worried that the deal would be blocked.

That's actually 1.25 million dollars per month.

$30,000 x 10% = $3000 x 5000 people = $15,000,000 per annum / 12 months = $1,250,000/month

20% of the people is less than 50%.:retard:

My math was off because 50% of the members is $1,250,000 per month and at 20% of the members is $600,000, which is a lot money and even more than I first expected.

10,000 members X 50% X $3,000 per year / 12 months per year = $1,250,000 per month

10,000 members X 20% X $3,000 per year / 12 months per year = $600,000 per month

You do the math. They are bigger Rip-Off Artists.

You must be a member and a loyal supporter of a mega-church.:shame:

LOL actually my experiences with church finances is not from a large congregation, but yes I do attend a large church in Houston not named Lakewood or New Light. :d

Good for you, but IMO most large churches are large cash cows for the hierarchy in the church and do very little of God’s work.

I attend a large church in the MD area who proclaims the gospel in and out the church.. does community service projects, provide awareness, etc.... so I wonder where do you get your info from to make that statement..

Churches small and big usually do a lot for the community and world through ministries and programs they offer.

I don't think they deserve most of the criticism they get from people who won't like them no matter what. IMO the majority of these churhes do 1000 times more then the folks sitting back and being critical of them (which isn't hard to do)

What church are you a member of?

That's your opinion, but I've seen tons of churches only established for the sole purpose to make money. And a lot of these churches believe that they should show off the wealth they consider God has granted them. Fred Price is always bragging about his nice suits, cars, and watches, because he feel God gave it to him.
