The latest NFL start to transition to HBCU football coach is ready to immerse himself in campus life already.

DeSean Jackson, who will officially be introduced as Delaware State’s head football coach on Wednesday, announced Sunday morning that he will attend the DSU men’s and women’s basketball doubleheader against Norfolk State on Monday, Jan. 6.

“Coach Jack checkin’ in, new head football coach at Delaware State University,” Jackson said in an Instagram reel shared by the DSU athletics feed. “Y’all come turn up. Hornet Nation, let’s get it!”

Jackson, a talented wide receiver who played 16 seasons in the NFL, notably with the Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Commanders and Baltimore Ravens, was hired as DSU football coach Christmas week, three weeks after the university parted ways with Lee Hull.

Jackson was selected from a pool of “big-name” candidates that included fellow former NFL wide receivers Cris Carter and Mike Williams.

The Hornet women will face Norfolk State beginning at 5:30 with the men’s game, streaming on ESPN Plus, to follow.
