One of the most intense rivalries in HBCU football continues to heat up as former Grambling State quarterback Noah Bodden announced Tuesday that he will be transferring to Southern with four years of eligibility remaining.

“First I would like to thank Coach Fobbs for giving me an opportunity to attend Grambling State University. I was given an opportunity to live out my dream of playing college football on the historic grounds of GSU. Secondly, I would like to thank my support system which includes the fans, administrators, my father, my brothers and sisters, and my mentor Coach Bruce. The many prayers and kind words kept me going. You guys gave me hope in low times and kept me humble in high times,” Noah said on Twitter. “I can’t thank you guys enough. Lastly, I would like to thank my teammates who became my brothers. The weight room sessions, practices, and many other things I’ll miss. Thank you guys for believing in me. With that being said GSU will always be in my heart but it will not be home. My next destination wears GOLD and BLUE and I’ll be dropping the “G” and repping SU Coach Dooley and Jaguar Nation LETS WORK.”

Former JUCO All-American Ja’Sion Greathouse is one of the more notable players to flip from Grambling State to Southern. Meanwhile, former LSU recruit Donte Starks and Arkansas recruit Devin Bush both flipped from Southern to Grambling State.

Coming out of Christ the King Regional High School in his home state of New York, Bodden was a three-star recruit part of the 2021 recruiting class.

He received numerous offers from FBS programs including Baylor, Cincinnati, Oregon and West Virginia among others but ultimately decided to attend Grambling State.

Bodden played four games with the Tigers this past season with his best performance coming in an October 2 matchup against Alabama A&M.

In that game, the New York-born quarterback finished a season-high 191 passing yards scoring three touchdowns.
