The HBCU Legacy Bowl announced Tuesday its third selection and the first from the wide receiver position in Florida A&M’s Xavier Smith.
Smith also continues the streak of SWAC players being selected to the HBCU Legacy Bowl with the first two being Alabama A&M quarterback Aqeel Glass and Alcorn State quarterback Felix Harper.

In 22 career games prior to this season, Smith put up 129 receptions for 1,886 receiving yards scoring 15 touchdowns.
Playing alongside MEAC Offensive Player of the Year quarterback Ryan Stanley, Smith was the leading receiver for a Florida A&M team that led the MEAC in passing yards and passing touchdowns recording the best overall record in the conference.
That season, Smith was named to the All-MEAC First Team as well as the BOXTOROW All-America team and the Hero Sports FCS Sophomore All-America First Team.
Through two games so far this season, Smith has 11 receptions for 89 yards and a touchdown.
Scheduled to be played on Feb. 13, 2022, the HBCU Legacy Bowl is a postseason all-star game that will show NFL draft-eligible football players from Historically Black Colleges and Universities. It will be broadcast live on NFL Network.
