The Southwestern Athletic Conference is expanding its digital media presence with the launch of a dedicated free, ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channel, giving fans more ways to watch conference programming without a subscription.
The SWAC announced Thursday that SWAC TV will become available across several major streaming platforms, including Prime Video, Plex, Xumo Play, Amazon Fire TV, Google TV and Dingo TV. Additional distribution platforms are expected to be announced.
Why it matters: The expansion provides the conference with a broader platform to showcase its student-athletes, member institutions and athletic programming to audiences across the country.
The channel will officially begin its live sports programming with Week 3 action from the 2026 college football season on Saturday, Sept. 19.
The big picture
The expansion follows increased viewership and engagement with SWAC TV’s live and on-demand programming, according to the conference. That growth has created an opportunity to distribute SWAC content beyond its existing platforms and reach viewers through services they already use.
“Expanding SWAC TV across leading FAST platforms represents a transformative moment for our Conference and is a direct reflection of the tremendous support our fans have shown for SWAC programming,” SWAC Commissioner Dr. Charles McClelland said in a statement.
McClelland said the expansion would provide additional access to SWAC content while creating a platform to promote the conference’s athletic programs nationally.
“Very few collegiate conferences have the ability to offer a dedicated FAST channel featuring their own programming,” McClelland added.
More than football
The FAST channel will feature live sporting events, original programming and content highlighting the SWAC’s 12 member institutions and 18 conference-sponsored sports.
That broader lineup allows the conference to highlight its athletic offerings throughout the year, rather than limiting its digital presence to football broadcasts.
The SWAC has partnered with Triple B Media to operate and distribute the channel across participating platforms.
Brendan Canning, co-founder and chief commercial officer of Triple B Media, said the conference has developed an audience with strong interest in its programming.
“FAST distribution provides an opportunity to build upon that momentum by making SWAC programming available to an even broader audience without a paywall,” Canning said.
FAST channels offer viewers free access to programming supported by advertising, providing an alternative to subscription-based streaming services.
What comes next
The expanded SWAC TV distribution represents another investment in the conference’s digital media and broadcast strategy. By adding a dedicated channel to major streaming platforms, the SWAC is creating more opportunities for fans to follow its teams and institutions.
The initial live sports programming begins Saturday, Sept. 19, with Week 3 of the college football season. Additional streaming platforms are expected to join the distribution lineup in the future.
