Texas Southern’s 2026 football schedule is now official, and the Tigers will play six home games across two venues after the university released the slate on Saturday.
Five of those home dates will be played at W.W. Thorne Stadium in north Houston, while the Oct. 24 homecoming game against Southern will be held at Reliant Stadium. Texas Southern also will not play any games at Shell Energy Stadium this season, ending months of uncertainty about where the Tigers would host their home contests.
The schedule opens Aug. 29 against North Carolina Central, the first-ever matchup between the schools in Houston, at Thorne Stadium. TSU’s first road game comes Sept. 6 against SWAC champion Prairie View A&M, followed by a Sept. 12 trip to UTEP in El Paso.

Texas Southern returns home Sept. 26 to face Alcorn at Lorman, Miss., before traveling to Boca Raton, Fla., for an Oct. 3 game against Florida Atlantic. The Tigers then host Mississippi Valley State on Oct. 10 at Thorne Stadium.
After homecoming against Southern at Reliant Stadium, TSU goes back on the road for games at Alabama A&M on Nov. 7 and at Jackson State on Nov. 14. The Tigers close the home schedule with a Nov. 21 matchup against UAPB at Thorne Stadium.
The finalized slate gives Texas Southern a clearer home-field plan after a long stretch of scheduling questions tied to Houston Dynamo and Dash events at Shell Energy Stadium, the program’s main home since 2012.
Texas Southern is coming over a 2025 season in which it won six or more games for the first time in 25 years.
