Entering their first season under head coach Tony Carter, the Central State Marauders have announced they have hired a pair of former NFL stars to their football coaching staff.
Nine-year NFL veteran Leon Washington joins the Marauders as an Offensive Coordinator, and 10-year NFL veteran Quintin Demps as Defensive Pass Game Coordinator.
This is Washington’s first collegiate coaching job, having previously served as an assistant special teams coach with the New York Jets.
Meanwhile, Demps comes to Central State after a three-year stint at Judson University, serving as head coach in his final two seasons.
A standout at Florida State University, Washington played most of his NFL career with the New York Jets and Seattle Seahawks, establishing himself as an elite all-purpose back and kick returner.

He finished his career with 12,898 all-purpose yards and scored 28 total touchdowns, including 16 rushing touchdowns.
The former NFL running back was selected to the All-Pro First team in 2008 and led the NFL with 2,332 all-purpose yards.
A fourth-round draft pick out of the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), Demps played primarily five of his 10 NFL seasons with the Houston Texans.

He finished his career with 312 total tackles (222 solo tackles) and 18 interceptions, including a career-high six interceptions in the 2016 season.
