The reigning CIAA men’s basketball champion, Virginia State Trojans, have announced that they have signed former Bowie State All-CIAA forward Amare Wimbush.
In three seasons at Bowie State, Wimbush averaged 8.8 points and 4.7 rebounds in 74 total games.
The former Bulldog was named to the All-CIAA team this past year after recording 12.5 points on 45% shooting from the field and 6.0 rebounds.
He scored in double-figures in 18 of 27 games last season, including a career-high 30 points in February against CIAA championship runner-up Bluefield State.

Virginia State is coming off a 2024-2025 season in which they finished with a 22-9 overall record, their first 20-win season since 2019.
In addition to claiming the CIAA championship, the Trojans advanced to the Division II National Tournament, winning an opening-round contest against West Chester University of Pennsylvania.
