In a statement released by the university, Panthers athletic director Anton Goff stated that “Her success as a former player and coach will resonate well with our current and future student-athletes. She possesses all the tools to be a great coach and develop a winning program. We are confident that she will help our student-athletes reach their highest goals, on and off the court.”
Dillard led UT-Austin to the Final Four in 2003, then played from 2003 to 2005 with the San Antonio Silver Stars of the WNBA. Following her playing career, she served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at various Division I universities, most recently at the University of Houston. She will replace Sandy Pugh, who resigned after seven seasons at the helm, compiling a 80-115 overall record at Prairie View.
An introductory press conference will be held Friday May 2.
