Former HBCU running back Bhayshul Tuten taken by Jaguars in 2025 NFL Draft

Bhayshul Tuten, a running back who began his collegiate career at North Carolina A&T before transferring to Virginia Tech, was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the 104th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft on Saturday.

Tuten made an impact at North Carolina A&T. As a sophomore in 2022, he rushed for 1,363 yards and 13 touchdowns on 208 carries, earning First Team All-Big South honors. He was also named an FCS Third Team All-American. After the season, Tuten transferred to Virginia Tech.

In 2023, Tuten rushed for 863 yards and 10 touchdowns and added 239 receiving yards with two touchdown catches. In 2024, he finished with 1,159 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns, along with 81 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns. He rushed for 266 yards against Boston College, setting a Virginia Tech single-game record. He was named Second Team All-ACC in both seasons with the Hokies.

Across his college career, Tuten recorded 3,600 rushing yards and 41 rushing touchdowns, averaging nearly six yards per carry. He also contributed nine receiving touchdowns and returned two kickoffs for touchdowns in 2023.
