The Golden Bears set the tone defensively in the opening quarter, forcing turnovers to limit Tuskegee’s scoring opportunities. They forced seven turnovers, which converted to seven of their 14 points in the period.
After shooting 33% from the field in the first quarter, Miles began to get things going, shooting 55% for the rest of the game. This includes 71% shooting from the field in the second half.
Despite 11 turnovers by Miles in the second half, Tuskegee dug too deep a hole for them to get out of. Miles closed the win, building a lead that peaked at 19 points in the fourth quarter.
Miles will enter the NCAA tournament on a nine-game win streak, with an overall record of 21-6. Before the start of the SIAC tournament, Miles was unranked in the Division II South Regional rankings.
The NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Tournament field will be announced Sunday, March 9, at 10:30 p.m. ET on NCAA.com.
