Travis Hunter has made waves across the county this season as the best two-way player in college football.
So if the Colorado wide receiver/cornerback takes home the coveted Heisman Trophy, he plans to show love to the place where he got his start.
“I started off at Jackson State,” Hunter said during a media engagement Friday. “I’ve got to thank them for allowing me to come in there and do what I do and accepting me when I left.”

Hunter, along with Shedeur Sanders and several other players recruited to Jackson by former coach Deion Sanders, led the Tigers to consecutive SWAC championships and Celebration Bowl appearances.
Hunter was named SWAC freshman of the year in 2022 and scored two receiving touchdowns in the Celebration Bowl against North Carolina Central. That season, he tallied five touchdowns overall — four as a wide receiver and one as a defensive back.
“Jackson State still claims me even after I left, so I’m definitely going to pay homage to them.”
