Robinson came under fire this past spring after a phantom donation alleged to be worth 237 million dollars from mysterious hemp farmer Gregory Gerami subjected university leadership to several questions about policies and procedures for gifts.
Robinson plans to return to his position as a distinguished professor in FAMU’s School of Environment.
Florida A&M Board of Trustees chairperson Kristin Harper thanked Robinson for his service as president and expressed gratitude that he will remain a part of the university.
“Florida A&M has reached unprecedent heights as a Top 100 University and the No. 1 Public HBCU for the fifth consecutive year. We have achieved remarkable gains and record-breaking years under President Robinson’s leadership,” Harper said in the release. “I am honored to have served with fellow trustees alongside our president.”
Robinson published a letter Friday morning reflecting on his time as president and with gratitude for all voices.
“Rattlers, you are truly remarkable, and I personally thank each and every one of you, whether you have been a staunch advocate or a thoughtful critic,” Robinson wrote. “I cherish your prayers, friendship, wisdom, generosity and engagement.”
The Florida A&M board of trustees will meet to proceed with next steps at a date and time to be determined.
