Marquette King has always been an interesting character in the world of professional sports, from his time as an all-Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference punter at Fort Valley State to his all-pro days with the Oakland Raiders.
Now King can add another line to his resume – championship game halftime performer.
King, currently punting for the United Football League’s Arlington Renegades, was the musical guest for the league’s championship game Sunday in St. Louis, Missouri. King describes himself as a “Pop, Hip-Hop and EDM artist” and he provided his social media following with a preview of the song he performed, “Sweet Tea.”

King was second-team All-Pro with the Raiders in 2016 and kicked for the team for five seasons and the Denver Broncos for part of another. After a year out of football, he signed with the XFL’s St. Louis Battlehawks, but the league folded in 2020. He signed with the Renegades when the reborn XFL started and continued with the team following the merger with the USFL to create the UFL.
He was named to the league’s all-star team this season after leading the UFL in punting yard average (36.7).
