Former Mississippi Valley State head football coach Kendrick Wade is returning to college ranks after a year away, joining the ranks of the SIAC.
Coach Wade will be returning to Fort Valley State for his second stint on the Wildcats’ coaching staff as a Wide Receivers coach.
He previously served in a similar role with the Wildcats in 2021, in addition to being the Pass Game Coordinator.
Wade’s college football journey began at Mississippi Valley State, where he starred as a wide receiver from 2003-2005 and was named to the school’s All-Decade team for the 2000s.
After a brief professional playing career, he returned to his alma mater in 2017 for his first collegiate coaching job as the team’s wide receivers coach.
It was then at Mississippi Valley State that Wade got his first head coaching job, being hired in 2023 after a stint at Delta State.
He spent two seasons in that role, leading the Delta Devils to a 2-21 record before initially leaving to pursue a role as an Offensive Analyst at the University of Memphis.
Wade joins a Fort Valley State team that is entering its second season under head coach Marlon Watson. Last year, the Wildcats posted a 4-6 overall record, marking the first time they have finished a season with a record below .500 since 2018.
Also on the FVSU coaching is former Mississippi Valley State quarterback and College Football Hall of Famer Willie Totten, who serves as an Associate Head Coach and the Offensive Coordinator.
