The new softball program received a commitment from Aniah Jones, an outfielder from Klein Forest High School in Houston, Texas.

Dillard head softball coach Jack Lewis, whose program will start in 2024, was excited about the signee.
“She is the epitome of what we’re trying to bring into Dillard,” Lewis said. “By that, I mean she is a quick outfielder. This program is going to be built around speed and defense.
“She is so fast, so we anticipate her being either lead off or certainly top of the order. She is a left-handed batter, left-handed fielder (who) plays a sound field. So right now, we’re looking at her to provide a lot of leadership as we bring other outfielders in around her. She’s going to be a wonderful, wonderful teammate.”
In her senior season, Jones hit .291 with 9 RBI and 14 runs scored.
