The NBA has opened an investigation into what it observed as a suspicious Twitter account belonging to veteran referee and newly hired MEAC men’s basketball coordinator of officials Eric Lewis.
The news was first reported by NBA writer Marc Stein.
According to Stein, Twitter user @PabloEscoburner—citing another user, @Mikey_Wyllin—published two screen recordings totaling over three minutes in length depicting the replies of a Twitter account under the name Blair Cuttliff.
“Cuttliff’s” replies were almost entirely made to tweets mentioning Lewis.
Lewis, a 19-year NBA referee, was referenced in several posts regarding allegations of impropriety.
NBA ref Eric Lewis has been outed as having a burner account (@CuttliffBlair). Lmaooo this is a momentous day. The account will surely be deleted soon so for the archives, the entirety of the account’s replies. All involving… yep, Eric Lewis. 😂

Most recently, Lewis earlier this month was named by the MEAC as the league’s coordinator of men’s basketball officials. Lewis, who is a Bethune-Cookman alum, was expected to start June 1.
“I couldn’t be more excited to bring Eric Lewis on board as our Coordinator of Men’s Basketball Officials,” MEAC Commissioner Sonja Stills said in a statement. “To have someone with ties to the conference and with the sterling resume Eric possesses to come aboard will be a tremendous asset for our league and how our men’s basketball games are officiated.”
The conference has not released a statement about the NBA’s investigation into Lewis.
