Prairie View 9, Texas Southern 6
The Panthers drew first blood in the third inning, scoring on Zachary Trevino’s RBI single, with the next one coming later in the inning when Garrison Weiss scored on a groundout. Texas Southern tied the game in the bottom of the third, loading the bases and bringing in two runs on consecutive sacrifice flies from Gabriel Vasquez and Roderick Coffee.
Prairie View took back the lead in the top of the fourth with three runs, one of which came on a Texas Southern throwing error on Jayden Williams’ RBI single that allowed an additional run to score.

The third run came on a sacrifice bunt from Weiss that brought the score to 5-2. The Panthers tacked on two more runs in the top of the fifth via a two-run single off the bat of Ahmar Donatto to push their advantage to 7-2.
Texas Southern trimmed the lead to 7-6 in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI single from Alexander Olivo and a three-run homer from Vasquez.
Infielder Marshal Jonas launched a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Panthers up 8-6, with Prairie View’s last run of the day coming on a passed ball in the top of the ninth inning.
Alabama State 9, Florida A&M 8
It came down to the last at-bat for Alabama State. The No. 1 seed Hornets came from behind in the bottom of the ninth to defeat Florida A&M 9-8.
The Hornets took an early 2-0 lead courtesy of a two-run double off the bat of Ali Lapread. Scoring runs in the second and third innings, FAMU was able to tie the score at 2-all.
The Rattlers took their first lead of the evening at 5-2 with a three-run fifth inning. Jack Hay’s RBI singled in the bottom of the fifth, cut the lead to 5-3. FAMU extended their lead to 8-3 after an eighth inning that saw an RBI single from Jared Weber and a two-run homer off the bat of Sebastian Greico. Alabama State was able to take advantage of a wild pitch that enabled Cristian Lopez to cross home plate, bringing the score to 8-4.

The first run of the ninth inning came after Randy Flores drew a walk, then stole second. advanced on a fly ball to third base and then scored on a wild pitch to cut the score to 8-5. Walks drawn by Ian Matos and Hay and then a single from Lapread loaded the bases for the with just one out. A Corey King fly ball brought Matos in. Lopez’s two-run double down the right field line tied the game at 8-8.
Jayden Sloan was brought in to pinch-hit for Devone Bailey, and he registered the biggest hit of the night with a single to left field that drove in the winning run.
Grambling 7, Southern 3
Grambling got the scoring started with a Cameron Bufford two-run double. A wild pitch later in the inning gift-wrapped another Tigers run, putting them up 3-0.
For the second time in as many games, Keylon Murray went yard, this one being a solo shot in the bottom of the third inning that put Grambling up 4-0.
Grambling would get their fifth run of the evening when a dropped fly ball allowed Jose Vargas to score. Southern got on the board in the top of the fourth inning when Nava Sanchez’s sac fly brought home Jaylen Armstrong to make the score 5-1.

The Jaguars drew within two at 5-3 when Khyle Radcliffe blasted a two-run homer in the top of the sixth inning. Grambling responded in the bottom of the frame via a two-run triple that extended the Tigers’ advantage to 7-3.
Grambling will face the winner of the Bethune-Cookman and Southern matchup.
