Not only will the fall see the return of football for the MEAC, it will also see the return of volleyball. As the season comes close to beginning, the MEAC has announced its Preseason All-MEAC team and predicted order of finish.
Headlining the team is reigning MEAC Defensive Player of the Year Coppin State junior Ashley Roman. In the 2021 spring season, Roman led the MEAC with 338 digs and a 5.54 digs per set average.
She became the fourth player in MEAC history to record a dig per set average of five or above with her’s being the second-highest in MEAC history.
Roman was one of three Coppin State Eagles selected to the All-MEAC team with senior outside hitter Miajavon Coleman and senior setter Kareemah Hopkins each making the team.
The Delaware State Hornets had two players featured on the team in junior middle blocker Sydney Lewis and sophomore outside hitter Valeria Otero.

Rounding out the team is Howard junior middle blocker Tamar Wells and North Carolina Central redshirt junior middle blocker Ammaarah Williams.
Coming off a season in which they finished as the runner-ups in the MEAC championships to North Carolina A&T, Coppin State was picked to finish first in the MEAC this season. This season the Eagles will be looking to win their first MEAC championship in school history.
Picked to finish second are the Howard Bison who previously won five straight MEAC titles prior to the spring season.
Rounding out the standings are Delaware State in third, Morgan State and University of Maryland-Eastern Shore each tied for fourth, North Carolina Central in sixth, Norfolk State in seventh and South Carolina State in last.
