The wait is over.
The staff for new Jackson State head coach Deion Sanders has finally been revealed.
After teasing that he had assembled assistants with more than eight decades of pro and college experience, the group was officially finalized on Monday.
“We have a great group of coaches, and I’m thrilled they’ve decided to join me on this journey at Thee I Love Jackson State University,” Sanders said in a statement. “We have a group of men that will serve as mentors in the field of competition and in the classroom. This staff knows how to win and win at a consistent level.”
The staff includes Michael Pollock, who was named offensive coordinator. Pollock, a long time Georgia high school coach, most recently led Lincoln County to a 9-3 record in 2019.
On the defensive side, Dennis Thurman will serve as the Tigers’ defensive coordinator.
Thurman most recently was the defensive coordinator for the Memphis Express of the upstart Alliance of American Football. From 2015-16, he was the defensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills and coached under Rex Ryan. He also had stints with the New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens and collegiate at USC.
