EAST GREENSBORO – North Carolina A&T is looking forward to having its first athletic event in eight months when the Aggies men’s basketball team faces the No. 8 Illinois Fighting Illini at 2 p.m., Wednesday, in Champaign, Ill.

N.C. A&T’s men’s and women’s basketball teams are the only two varsity sports competing for the remainder of the calendar year.

While it is exciting to see N.C. A&T varsity teams competing again, the nation is still amid the coronavirus pandemic. The chief concern has been and remains the well-being and safety of our student-athletes, fans, and staff.

With the recent spike in coronavirus cases, N.C. A&T Director of Athletics, Earl M. Hilton III, announced on Tuesday there will be no fans permitted inside Corbett Sports Center for men’s and women’s basketball games for the month of December.

The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and other institutional staff members will re-evaluate conditions prior to the New Year.

The women’s basketball team is home twice in December. Their home opener is against Queens College on Thursday, Dec. 17 at 2 p.m. Three days later, they will face the Elon Phoenix on Sunday, Dec. 20 at 2 p.m.

The men are home three times in December. They play their home opener against Western Carolina, 4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 12. They face Greensboro College, 3 p.m., Friday, Dec. 18 before closing out the calendar year against cross-town rival UNC Greensboro, 6 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 22.

Fans wishing to watch the men’s and women’s basketball teams live can cheer on the Aggies by going to ncataggies.com and clicking on the ncataggiesTV link on the front-page.
