The Florida Memorial University football program made history Saturday in the Lions’ 62-0 season-opening loss to (NAIA) No. 9 Keiser University.
Not only did the game represent the return of football to the program after 62 years, but the Lions became the only HBCU athletic program to play football during the current pandemic.
All other HBCU athletic programs have decided to either postpone fall sports until the spring or cancel fall sports entirely due to COVID-19.
Preparing for the fall football season even resulted in some within FMU’s athletic department contracting the coronavirus.
With the pandemic showing no signs of ending anytime soon, several college football programs have begun playing their fall schedules.
With these factors in mind, do you agree with Florida Memorial’s decision to play fall football?
