In a matchup between two teams responsible for three of the last four Sun Conference tournament championships, it was Florida Memorial that came out on the winning end of a one-sided 96-70 blowout against Southeastern (Fla.).

This win is the Lions’ fifth in their last six games (second in a row), improving their overall record to 14-7.

Among five FMU players to score in double figures, Devin Carter led the mob off the bench with 19 points on 58% shooting, connecting on three three-pointers.

Morgan Brewer chimed in with a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Sehmaj Mentor scoring 13 points, hitting all three of his three-point attempts.

Rounding out the Lions’ double-digit scorers were Cameron Noel and Peter Asceric, each scoring 12 points while swiping a pair of steals.

This was a wire-to-wire win for Florida Memorial, which wasted no time taking control of this game after a scoring outburst in the first half.

Leading 7-5 in the game’s first four minutes, the Lions went on a 28-7 run over the next nine minutes to build a 35-12 advantage.

This efficient run saw the team connect on 12 of its 15 shot attempts, including 10 points in the paint.

While Southeastern would trim its deficit to as low as 13 points in the second half, FMU was never in any significant trouble, building a lead that peaked to 28 points down the stretch to secure the victory.

Florida Memorial, which claimed Sun Conference tournament championships in 2022 and 2024, keeps its hopes of a regular-season title alive with this win.

Now sporting a 6-3 conference record, they are now one game behind Southeastern and Keiser (each 7-2 in conference play) for second place and two games behind Keiser (8-1 in conference play) for first place.

This win ties the season series between FMU and Southeastern, while Florida Memorial holds a head-to-head victory over Keiser, with an impending matchup coming in their regular-season finale.

The Lions will look for their third straight win on Wednesday when they return to action in the FMU Wellness Center against Warner University (Fla.).
