GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Tigers of Texas Southern University saw their postseason run come to an end Tuesday in an 87-86 overtime loss at Green Bay in the semifinal round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament.

Sandy Cohen III knocked down a 15-foot jumper with 1.5 seconds remaining to lift the host Phoenix to victory in a back-and-forth game. John Jones’ half-court shot attempt for TSU hit off the top of the backboard and ended the contest.

Tyrik Armstrong scored a team-high 23 points to lead four TSU players scoring in double-figures. Jeremy Combs chipped in 21 points and eight rebounds for the Tigers, followed by 19 points from Devocio Butler. Eden Ewing scored 11 points and pulled in nine rebounds for the Tigers.

It was a layup by Combs off an offensive rebound with eight seconds left in the overtime that briefly gave the Tigers an 86-85 lead. It was one of two leads the Tigers held in overtime.

Combs also hit the game-tying layup in regulation to send the game to overtime. He took a pass from Armstrong and hit a layup through traffic with seven seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 76-76. Armstrong handed out six assists in the game.

Cohen led Green Bay with 23 points.

The loss ended a historic season for the Tigers. The semifinal run through the CIT marked the longest postseason run for the Tigers since they won the 1977 NAIA Tournament. TSU and Hampton, which also reached the semifinals of the CIT, enjoyed the longest Division I postseason runs for historically black colleges in any tournament.

Combs finished the season with averages of 17.6 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. He received All-American Honorable Mention prior to Tuesday’s game.
