Jacksonville, Florida-The Edward Waters Department of Athletics has announced that Andrew Jackson High School Stadium will be the home venue for five of six home contests during the 2017 Tiger football season. Edward Waters hosted Virginia University of Lynchburg in the 2016 season finale at Jackson and defeated the Dragons, 42-6.

Located on the corner of 48th Street and Main Street near Downtown Jacksonville, Andrew Jackson Stadium is less than 10 minutes away from the EWC campus. “We were looking for a home venue that had close proximity to our campus as well as large enough to accomodate our fans”. said Interim Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Stanley B. Cromartie. “While we eagerly are anticipating opening our own Community Stadium in 2018, we feel that Andrew Jackson Stadium will provide a great home field advantage for our football program this season.”

Head Coach Alvin B. Wyatt, Sr. and the Tigers will open the home portion of the 2017 schedule on Saturday, September 16th against Mid-South Conference opponent, Cumberland University at 4:30pm. The lone contest that will be played on campus will be played on Saturday, October 7th at 3:00pm as Edward Waters will host the University of Faith for the annual Homecoming game.

“I personally want to thank (Andrew Jackson Principal) Dr. (Tracolya) Clinch, and (Duval County Public Schools Athletic Director) Tammy Talley for working with us during this process.” remarked Cromartie. “We encourage all of Tiger Nation to come out, be our 12th man, and help push our Tigers to many victories in 2017.”
