The Harris-Stowe State University Department of Athletics announced the formation of the Athletics Hall of Fame on Monday.
HSSU athletic administration felt that it was imperative to begin recognizing the long standing and rich tradition of Hornet Athletics. For over 75 years Harris-Stowe has competed in intercollegiate athletics and has been a proud member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) since 1969 with a number of team championships, All Conference and All American performers and individuals who have dedicated time and resources to the athletic programs and student-athletes.
“We are extremely excited to begin acknowledging all of the achievements of teams, individuals and patrons of the HSSU Department of Athletics. The administration and Hall committee has worked tirelessly to ensure that our Hall classes are celebrated and recognized for their hard work and dedication to the University”, said Athletic Director Jamaal Mayo.
The inaugural Hall of Fame class will be inducted into the Hall on Oct. 29 prior to the University’s homecoming basketball games, on the campus of Harris-Stowe in the Emerson Performance Center.
The department of athletics encourages all to begin sending in nominations for the 2016 Hall of Fame class. Applications with supporting documentation such as statistics, records, honors and newspaper articles must be submitted no later than August 1, 2016, as the class will be announced August 8, 2016.
