Ultimate HBCU Sports Division I Football Poll: A big win vaults SWAC West team into top 5

Alabama State’s Mighty Marching Hornets band has been voted HBCU Sports Band of the Week for Week 9.

Receiving band of the week honors for the second time this season, the Mighty Marching Hornets generated 79.63 (86 votes) percent of the votes for their Oct. 31 Magic City Classic halftime performance against Alabama A&M.

Alabama A&M finished the polling in second place with 12 percent of the vote, followed by Howard University and Albany State.

The HBCU Sports Band of the Year honor will be announced in January.
