NORFOLK, Va. – Maryland Eastern Shore’s Mike Escanilla earned Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week honors, the conference announced on Monday. Norfolk State’s Devin Hemmerich was selected the Pitcher of the Week, while teammate Alex Mauricio earned Rookie of the Week honors.

Escanilla batted .600 (9-for-15) against George Washington and Delaware State. He scored five runs and registered four hits, including one triple, in an 11-3 win over Delaware State.

Henmerich pitched his first career complete-game shutout in an 8-0 win over Coppin State. He scattered two infield hits and fanned eight.

Mauricio registered five hits, including a career-high three hits, in an 8-2 win over Coppin State. He also totaled three stolen bases during the three-game series.

Other Top Performances

Charles Dailey (DSU) finished with two hits, including one double and one home run, in a non-conference loss to Delaware.

Ryan Kilmon (NSU) recorded three extra-base hits, including his first-career home run, in a 8-0 win over Coppin State.

Carlos Ortiz (NCCU) homered in three consecutive games against Savannah State.

Mitchell McCrary (NCCU) registered a two-RBI single to help the Eagles rally to defeat Savannah State, 7-5.

Adan Ordonez (NCAT) went 6-for-11, with four runs scored and one double, in a three-game series against Bethune-Cookman.

Jesse Stinnett (UMES) struck out four batters in seven innings worked in an 11-3 win over Delaware State.
