Alcorn State Lady Braves Fall To Central Arkansas 62-36

Central Arkansas def. ALCORN STATE, 62-36

LORMAN, Miss.  – After trailing most of the first half, Central Arkansas manage to come back and dominate the Lady Braves and cruised to a 62-36 triumph on Tuesday night. A late 8-0 run in the first half led the Sugar Bears to take its first lead, Central Arkansas steadily pulled away in the second half. Going into the second half Alcorn State was only behind 11 points, 30-21.  Though UCA shot just 29 percent in the first half, the Sugar Bears improved to 40 percent in the second half as they outscored the Lady Braves 32-15 after the break. Both teams struggled from the perimeter, with Central Arkansas hitting 4 of 19 from the three-point range (21.1 percent) and the Lady Braves just 1 of 11 (9.1 percent). The Sugar Bears were led by Kendara Watt’s 17 points, while Brianna Mullins added 14 (all in the second half.  Henrietta Wells led the way for Alcorn State University with nine points, while Angelica Wilson-Reid grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds.  The Lady Braves will be back in action December 8 as they host Louisiana-Monroe.  The game is set to kickoff at 7 p.m.

Oklahoma State University def. ARKANSAS-PINE BLUFF, 90-45

STILLWATER, OK – No. 20 Oklahoma State defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff 90-45 Tuesday night at the Gallagher-Iba Arena. OSU scored the first eight points of the game and eventually built a 48-20 lead at intermission.  Arkansas-Pine Bluff (2-4) was led by Ajia Richardson with 13 points and seven boards.  Jazmyne Victorian had 10 points, despite going 4 of 14 from the floor.  The Golden Lions shot 25 percent from the field, 17 of 64 and were 2-9 on three-pointers.  UAPB was out-rebounded 52-34.  Liz Donohoe led the Cowgirls, who advances to a 6-1 record, with a total of 15 points.  Arkansas-Pine Bluff will hit the road and head to Wichita, Kansas to take on Wichita State University on Friday, Dec. 5 at 12:05 p.m.
