No. 1 Wiley Wildcats (25-7, 13-5) lost to St. Gregory’s (OK) Cavaliers 84-69 in the NAIA Division I Tournament, after finishing tied for third in the RRAC regular season and winning the RRAC Tournament championship at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Texas, the Wildcats’ season is complete.

The No. 1 Wiley Wildcats earned the Dr. Cavil’s 2013-2014 HBCU Basketball Men’s Mid-Major Division National Championship for the first time since the establishment of the poll ranking system in 2002.

No. 2 Talladega Tornadoes (28-6, 9-2) lost to Evangel (MO) Crusaders 88-71 in the NAIA Division I Tournament, after finishing first in the Western Division of the GCAC in the regular season and winning the GCAC Tournament championship at Xavier’s Convocation Center in New Orleans, the Tornadoes’ season is complete.

No. 3 Tuskegee Golden Tigers (21-12, 12-5) defeated the Florida Southern Mocs 98-95, defeated the North Alabama Lions 93-87, defeated the Delta State Statesmen (80-59) and lost the Metropolitan State Roadrunners 106-87 in NCAA Division II Elite Eight quarterfinals round under coach Leon Douglas’s leadership in the Ford Center in Evansville, IN, after finishing first in the West Division of the SIAC in the regular season and winning the SIAC Tournament finals at the Bill Harris Arena in Birmingham, Ala.

No. 4 Livingstone Blue Bears (21-7, 11-5) lost to the East Stroudsburg Warriors 99-98 in NCAA Division II Tournament, after finishing first in the Southern Division of the CIAA in the regular season and winning their first every CIAA Tournament championship at the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, N.C., the Blue Bears’ season is complete.

No. 5 Lincoln (PA) Lions (18-9, 10-6) defeated the Dominican Chargers 71-68 and defeated the Caldwell Cougars (65-49) in the ECAC Tournament Championship Game, after finishing tied for second in the Northern Division of the CIAA in the regular season and losing in the CIAA Tournament quarterfinals at the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, N.C., the Lions season is complete.

No. 6 Xavier Gold Rush (23-9, 10-2) after finishing first in the Western Division of the GCAC in the regular season and losing in the GCAC Tournament semifinals at Xavier’s Convocation Center in New Orleans, the Gold Rush season is complete.

No. 7 Philander Smith Panthers (20-11, 7-5) lost to William Carey (MS) Crusaders 109-93 in the NAIA Division I Tournament after finishing second in the Western Division of the GCAC in the regular season and losing in the GCAC Tournament finals at Xavier’s Convocation Center in New Orleans, the Panthers season is complete.

No. 8 Fort Valley State Wildcats (21-9, 15-3) were not selected to participate in a national post season tournament, after finishing first in the East Division of the SIAC in the regular season and losing in the SIAC Tournament finals at the Bill Harris Arena in Birmingham, Ala., the Wildcats season is complete.

No. 9 Winston-Salem State Rams (18-11, 11-5) were not selected to participate in a national post season tournament, after finishing second in the Southern Division of the CIAA in the regular season and losing in the CIAA Tournament finals at the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, N.C., the Rams’ season is complete.

No. 10 Fayetteville State Broncos (19-10, 10-6) were not selected to participate in a national post season tournament, after finishing third in the Southern Division of the CIAA in the regular season and losing in the CIAA Tournament semifinals at the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, N.C., the Broncos’ season is complete.

No. 1 #-Wiley Wildcats (30-5, 16-2) defeated the Mobile (AL) Rams 74-72, defeats the Shawnee State Bears 81-70, and defeated the Westminster (UT) 75-58 in the quarterfinals and lost to the Freed-Hardeman (TN) Lions (88-86 / OT) in the NAIA Fab Four NAIA Division I Tournament semifinals under coach Courtney Garrett-Pruitt’s leadership, at the Frankfort Civic Center in Frankfort, KY, after finishing tied for first in the RRAC regular season and losing in the RRAC Tournament semifinals at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Texas.

The No. 1 Wiley Wildcats earned the Dr. Cavil’s 2013-2014 HBCU Basketball Women’s Mid-Major Division National Championship for the second consecutive year for the first time since the poll rankings’ inception in 2002.

No. 2 Virginia State Trojans (25-4, 15-1) lost to the Bloomsburg Huskies 75-57 in NCAA Division II Tournament, after finishing first in the Northern Division of the CIAA in the regular season and losing in the CIAA Tournament semifinals at the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, N.C., the Trojans season is complete.

No. 3 Xavier Gold Nuggets (23-9, 10-2) defeated the Westmont (CA) Warriors 66-53 and then lost to the Campbellsville (KY) Tigers 59-55 in NAIA Division I Tournament second round, after finishing first in the Western Division of the GCAC in the regular season and winning the GCAC Tournament championship at Xavier’s Convocation Center in New Orleans,, the Gold Nuggets season is complete.

No. 4 Talladega Tornadoes (26-4, 10-1) lost to the Our Lady of the Lake (TX) Saints 97-94 in NAIA Division I Tournament first round, after finishing first in the Eastern Division of the GCAC in the regular season and losing in the GCAC Tournament finals at Xavier’s Convocation Center in New Orleans, the Tornadoes’ season is complete.

No. 5 Albany State Golden Rams (21-6, 14-3) defeated the Delta State Lady Statesmen 49-45, but then lost to the Nova Southeastern Lady Sharks 96-69 in NCAA Division II Tournament, after finishing first in the East Division of the SIAC in the regular season and losing in the SIAC Tournament finals at the Bill Harris Arena in Birmingham, Ala. the Golden Rams season is complete.

No. 6 Shaw Bears (21-9, 12-4) lost to the Glenville State Pioneers 76-70 in NCAA Division II Tournament, after finishing tied for first in the Southern Division of the CIAA in regular season and winning their fourth straight CIAA Tournament championship at the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, N.C., the Bears’ season is complete.

No. 7 Clark-Atlanta Panthers (20-9, 11-5) were not selected to participate in a national post season tournament, after finishing tied for second in the East Division of the SIAC in the regular season and losing in the SIAC Tournament semifinals at the Bill Harris Arena in Birmingham, Ala., the Panthers season is complete.

No. 8 Fayetteville State Broncos (21-7, 12-4) were not selected to participate in a national post season tournament, after finishing tied for first in the Southern Division of the CIAA in the regular season and losing in the CIAA Tournament finals at the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, N.C., the Broncos season is complete.

No. 9 Benedict Tigers (20-9, 11-5) lost to the Nova Southeastern Lady Sharks 75-61 in NCAA Division II Tournament opening round, after finishing tied for second in the East Division of the SIAC in the regular season and winning the SIAC Tournament championship at the Bill Harris Arena in Birmingham, Ala., the Tigers’ season is complete.
