Mississippi Valley State University on Tuesday named Rick Comegy as its next head football coach, the school announced during a press conference.
Comegy replaces Karl Morgan, who was fired by MVSU following the end of the 2013 regular season.
Comegy is MVSU’s 16th head coach.
Comegy spent the last eight seasons at Jackson State compiling a 55-35 overall record before he was fired on Dec. 18 after leading the Tigers to the 2013 SWAC Championship Game.
I truly believe that Coach Comegy’s hiring at MVSU is going to boost recruiting at the Mississippi Delta school. He has proven through his years at JSU that he can win. It should be quite interesting to see what is to come in the SWAC during the Fall 2014 football season. Grambling has Broderick Fobbs as the head coach. James Spady, former Grambling offensive coordinator and Nevada tight ends coach is now the head coach at Alabama A&M. Former Jackson State and L.A. Rams wide receiver great and assistant at Kentucky and Baylor Harold Jackson is the head coach at Jackson State. We will see.
