Houston, TX-A new era in Texas Southern soccer officially began today. New head coach Tamura Crawley-Marigny and her girls were out early this morning, for the first of several weeks of summer practice. They started with sprints for conditioning and then went on to drills and scrimmages. Coach Crawley-Marigny says she’s excited to actually get to work on the field.
The nerves and anxiety are now gone for the girls and I can see where they are since the spring workouts,” said Crawley-Marigny. “I can already see who will contend for a spot in the starting lineup. I’ll watch their feet work and see who worked on their skills in the off season.” The players are just as enthusiastic about the new beginning. “I have been counting down the days to practice since we got our new coach and now I’m about to pass out,” said 2009 All-SWAC junior midfielder Saycha Mitchell.
“Coach did a good job of recruiting with the new girls and we are clicking already. This year we believe we have a chance for the title.”
The Lady Tigers first game is Wednesday, August 18th against Lamar at 6:00pm at Durley Field on TSU’s campus.
